this is my second pregnancy. i never did any sexual things in my first and this is the first time i've done it in this pregnancy, i'm now 24 weeks pregnant. my partner was using his fingers up my vagina and when he pulled out there was the slightist bit of brown which smelt horribly of pooh. i'm so ashamed, i've tried to google this and just got a load of porn instead. i lost a slight bit of blood on sunday (red) and not sure whether this is linked, was going to tell the midwife when i see her next week. i've not been constipated at all during this pregnancy. i tried to examine myself today and there was a small amount of red blood again. could there really be pooh in my vagina and why would it only come out during sexual activity? i'm far too embarassed to go to a doctor about this but i'm really scared there is something wrong with me. please somebody help me, i'm really scared and can't see how the pooh could have got there.

unless you've been having anal sex I can't imagine why there would be any pooh there.
If it is brown discharge it could be old blood and the smell might be just because it is old and stale.

ring midewife

cupcakes · 09/06/2006 13:57

even disregarding the 'pooh' you should phone the midwife if you've had some bleeding.

needurgentembarassinghelp · 09/06/2006 13:57

however embarrassed you are you need to see the midwife for the sake of the baby, its not the poo id be worried about its the blood, poo could just have got there after not wiping yourself properly tbh

ggglimpopo · 09/06/2006 13:59

Old blood is brown or black and can be a little smelly. Ring the midwife.....

needurgentembarassinghelp · 09/06/2006 13:59

yeah but then i'm scared that if they examine me there could be pooh there again, i feel so horrible and dirty. i just can't see how it could be there

old blodd is REALLY stinky

zippitippitoes · 09/06/2006 14:00

I would ring the midwife, maybe it was transferred there from elsewhere..imperfect wiping or somnething?

Never mind the embarrassment ..just say you are concerned..about old blood or faeces

nailpolish · 09/06/2006 14:00

anyone who has poo in their vagina needs urgent help, you could have a fistula ffs

are you a troll?

LadyCodofCOdford · 09/06/2006 14:00

ring rin gring

cupcakes · 09/06/2006 14:01

phone her. she's seen it all before.

Blandmum · 09/06/2006 14:01

If it is there (whatever 'it' is, blood or faeces) you need to get it sorted out. The doctor seeing it will not suddenly make it be there IYSWIM.

And either way you need to get it checked out for your sake, and the babes as well.

You doctor will have seen it all before. Please don't feel embarased, just get it checked out.

Fimbo · 09/06/2006 14:01

TBH, I think you will just need to put up with the embarrassment, and get a health care professional to examine you, for you own peace of mind.

needurgentembarassinghelp · 09/06/2006 14:01

maybe it was old blood, i'll try to find the number for the midwife now

LadyCodofCOdford · 09/06/2006 14:01

am sure it was
dont worry
i rememebr the smell post labour being preetty rank

Blandmum · 09/06/2006 14:01

and listen to the cod, she knows her way round the old pouch of douglas.

Enid · 09/06/2006 14:02

sure dp wiped his hands properly after going to the loo Wink?

seriously, ring the midwife tell her you hvave lost some blood, seriously you have probably nothing to worry about but could be more serious for the baby.

Aesop · 09/06/2006 14:02

Call your mw and tell her you think there was blood, and that there is more today.

I'm sure it must have been blood. I think you can sometimes get a fissure between your rectum and vagina, and fecal matter leaks through, but that usually happens as a result of a difficult birth, not in pg.

Don't worry - mws have heard everything in their time. Just mention the blood if you can't bring yourself to say anything else. or say 'it smelled funny, it can't have been anything else brown, can it?'

LadyCodofCOdford · 09/06/2006 14:03

endi YUK

sugarfree · 09/06/2006 14:09

If she has a fistula she would be feeling very ill and it would be constant leakage.Let's not put the fear of God into someone already on the edge of hysteria.
Phone your midwife,it's blood and she needs to know.

smellynelly · 09/06/2006 16:16

it does sound like blood. When I miscarried last year after sex there was a horrible smell (before I found out baby had died)
Is baby moving?

I am sure it is completely different in your case but any bleeding should be checked out. Can you get down to the hospital today to be monitored?
