Announcing pregnancy when??

Hi all

I'm 13+2 weeks pregnant had my 12 week scan last week and all is ok thank my lucky stars, my hubby wants to announce our pregnancy and I'm very reluctant at the moment I'm hoping to wait until after my 20 week scan no real reason apart from waiting for my nuchel scan results, I just want to keep it between family and a few close friends. I'm not planning to tell work until after my 20 week scan and handing in my matb1 (long story from previous pregnancy and my boss having no idea about confidentiality)

Is 20 weeks too late to announce or shall I tell people earlier?

Any advice will be appreciated x

We only told immediate family and closest friends with our son and with current bump until after 20 week scan, I'm 25 weeks now and other people are only finding out if I bump into them out shopping or at playgroups etc if u want to keep it quiet its completely your choice, only people u want to know should know x

I told work at 26 weeks, they had no clue. Parents at 20. I wanted to keep it private, no reason why you can't.

Thank you, think I will ask hubby to be patient a bit longer and wait till 20 weeks, I'm a private kind of person and I'm happier with few people knowing I've told the obvious people parents, siblings and 3 close friend x

Im 13 weeks. I no the results of my screening tests as i had been booked in for a CVS. Thankfully all is looking very good.

Im delaying announcing my pregnancy due to the negative response Im expecting. There is no way i will be able to hide it for much longer. Maybe another week or two at the most.

Only my dp knows, no one else.

Its completely up to you when you tell people.

First pregnancy we only told immediate family & work (i was the boss's personal assistant) before 12 week scan, then friends after that scan. No big facebook announcement or anything.

This time i had to tell my friends (a few of us are stay at home mums) i see most days at 5 weeks as i just couldnt function properly due to sickness and they really helped me with driving to playgroups, and helping catch my DS when he ran in the opposite direction etc. They have been really good and not discussed it with anyone who wasnt aware. Now i'm 12 weeks and theres no way i can hide it, i look about 20 weeks got scan tomorrow, praying its not twins

I told family , friends and my boss when I found out.
I am a gobshite and can't keep a secret.
I have a friend who was 5 months gone ( with a huge bump) before she told people. She had a lot of anxiety about her pregnancy and was convinced something was going to go wrong as soon as everyone knew.
Each to their own. Do it when u feel ready.

first time round after 12 weeks as id had a previous mc. this time around i told loads of friends at about 5 weeks just because i kept on getting asked if i was ready for my next and im crap at lying its such a personal choice though so whatever feels right for you

We told everyone at around 8 weeks after we had a scan and all was ok.
But to be honest I am 22 weeks now and have been clearly showing since at least 17 weeks so couldn't have hidden it. Plus my friends would have guessed as we have had a weekend away with them all and a lot of parties and I am not one to not drink for no reason lol.
But if you can cover it up and feel that's what you want then u should do whatever makes u happy!! Congrats and good luck xxx

When I was last pregnant I was super excited and told people after 12 weeks, I didn't start showing I was 5/ 6 months, apart from going up a size in jeans I've not really noticed a bump or anything, I am a size 16 tho hoping not to show too soon x

Completely up to you when you tell people and who you tell and how you do it. It must be hard with your OH wanting to announce when you don't though, but there's no hard and fast rule.

It's up to you when you tell everyone and there's no right or wrong answer. Personally we told our families within 24 hours of finding out because we were so excited, and I told my boss within a few days but that was only because I'm diabetic and knew I would be having umpteen hospital appointments within the coming weeks. I work for a small company though and had only been working there a few months when I fell pregnant so felt I had to tell them when I did, in other circumstances I wouldn't have told them so early and when telling them I was very clear that I didn't want it to be known outside of the company directors and office manager until I was ready to tell everyone myself, which was a few weeks later and I have to say they were great about it.

Other than that we told our close friends after our first scan which was 9 weeks and only 'announced' it on Facebook in the last few days because its getting to the stage where I can't hide it anymore!
