long haul flight and spotting - WWYD?

Hi all - I am 5+3 and have just experienced some light spotting. It's brown so I am hoping it's old blood and nothing to worry about, but went to the EPU unit just to check it out. They saw a yolk sac but it was too early to see much else so I need to go back in 2 weeks for another scan to make sure everything is ok. I thought I was 6+3 but the scan said I was a bit earlier into the pregnancy thank first thought.

I am due to go on holiday mid August. It is a 10 hour flight. This was booked before I knew I was pregnant and would not have booked it if I knew.

Am in a bit of a quandary about what to do. If all goes well at the scan and you were in my situation, would you still fly? Or would you cancel and lose the deposit (about £400, but I have no issues about losing that) I'll be about 9 weeks.

My DH says it is my decision and will understand if I choose not to go, but just wondering what other people would do in my situation. Thanks very much.

If It's brown spotting I would say go on your holiday and relax and enjoy yourself.

A bit of brown spotting at that stage is common and I think its also hard to date accurately at that stage.

TBH even if it was a lot of red blood there isn't anything anyone can do about it.

If it was me u would have a brief chat with my midwife, go on hol and make sure I knew where the nearest hospital was just in case.

Well im in a similar situation in that ive got hol booked mid aug (done before baby concieved) but its short hall and ile be 9 wksish. I havnt spotted but this pregnancy is high risk due to having had recent gyne surgery. So my first thought was cancal hol and lose 750 qid. Bt since then had time to think and decided to go ahead cos i could stay home and nothing happen and be sorry i missed the hol.

And if things do happen other countries prob have better health care than we do right now (in my area at least)

I spotted and bled with my first preg and my daughter was born very healthy, alot of people bleed early on and never have further complications.

Id say go for it and enjoy it while u can but just take sensible precautions and good hol insurance x

I had spotting in my first couple of weeks, and then went to Australia on my honeymoon when I was 9 weeks. All was fine :) except the awful morning sickness that nearly ruined my honeymoon Wink DS is now a gorgeous 9 week old baby Grin

I don't think going or not going will make any difference to the outcome at all, so I would definitely go.

I would go too. Wish you well x

I had bleeding both brown and red from 5 weeks right up to 17 weeks on and off! I am now 22 weeks and currently on holiday. It was a 10.5 hour flight to get here and the same to get home. I have had no problems whilst I have been here and my little princess was just perfect at my 20 week scan.
I personally think you will be fine but only u can make the decision as only u know how u feel xxx

thanks everyone. I have decided to go. Have been looking forward to it for months and missed a holiday there last year as I was 8 and a half months pregnant and not allowed to fly! Seems every time I book a holiday months in advance I get pregnant!
