I think most people do!

chillisbopper · 20/07/2013 09:24

It depends on the size of the nursery and how bad you're doing with morning sickness. And how far along you are, wouldn't be able to with a huge bump I don't think. I've been alright with smells so I think if I were planning to paint the nursery provided it was properly ventilated it should be okay. However if it were a huge room I wouldn't because it can be quite tiring and also after a while paint gives me a headache so I'd not want it to take hours. We're leaving ours the cream colour it was when we moved in and putting up animal pictures/a wall paper boarder.

Having said that DH is incredibly over protective since I got pg and probably wouldn't want me doing it if we were so I'd enjoy putting my feet up while he did something around the house Grin

That is to say, if I were too ill or too far along or the room was too big etc but I wanted it painted I'd have DH or a relative do it anyway. Or hire somebody in. Rather get it ready before little guy arrived so its not smelling of paint after all Smile

whiteandyellowiris · 20/07/2013 09:29

well that's why I was thinking of doing it, because im about 25 and a half week now, so not really sck anymore, and not massive, well I am a bit!lol

but im at a good stage to do it

but im worried about exposure ot chemicals

mind you Ido all the cleaning in the house really so im exposed to that a lot

my dh is useless at diy, he hates it and does a terrible job

if he was good at it, i'd let him do it
but he will get it on the doors the radiators the fucking celing
downstairs
and make a right mess

I would

SweepTheHalls · 20/07/2013 09:44

absolutely

GobblersKnob · 20/07/2013 09:55

I repainted pretty much the whole house whe I was pg with dd, had a ridiculous amount of energy. Did all the glossing too, it's very warm so just have all the windows open, plenty of ventilation, it will be fine.

Fairydogmother · 20/07/2013 10:05

The low odour paint is a good option too

ChristineDaae · 20/07/2013 10:10

I did ours at 36 weeks pregnant with the window wide open. Sick of waiting for DP to do it!
I did get shouted at by a neighbour to 'get down off that bloody ladder' when he saw me through the window though!

whiteandyellowiris · 20/07/2013 20:54

thanks for your adviceSmile
guess most people do

Yes paint if you want, just use a low vco paint. The tin Will have this info on it, cheap brands normally have high whereas most dulux are low. Keep windows open etc.

GiveMeVegemite · 21/07/2013 10:22

I painted the house with my DH at around 30 weeks, but when he did the skirtings with the fumey chemical paint I just sat outside (or wore a gas mask!) the rest was fine

DaveMccave · 21/07/2013 11:49

The what?! Yes I don't see a problem with it, I spent all day glossing woodwork yesterday and I'm 36 weeks :)

conorsrockers · 21/07/2013 11:54

I painted pretty much the whole house when I was pg with DS1, laid tiles, put in a new kitchen .... no problem .... come to think of it DS1 is a bit odd .... I've never made the connection GrinGrin
