so everyone goes on about bras during pregnancy but no one tells you what pants to wear.

mine no longer fit and I can't seem to find any that don't roll down or are comfy.

are there special maternity knickers?

OP i've just been to Tesco and bought ladies 'boy shorts', in very soft stretchy material. Like sloggie material IYKWIM? £5 for a two pack. I bought large and it's bliss. They don't look big on the little hanger but you can practically pull them up under your arm pits while the legs hover nicely at the top of your thighs Grin

Oh the glamour ...

I just got big primarni pants. Dh laughed to start with, but now they fit fine around bump comfortably. Also I can wear them after birth and chuck if needed. £3 for a four pack. Can't complain.

ReikiMummy · 19/07/2013 19:18

full briefs (old lady style) from tesco definitely a good buy - pack of 4 for £3 i think... :)

moominmaiden · 19/07/2013 20:01

I spent ages trying to find size 10-12 briefs in Primark (reasoning that I only needed to go up one size from usual) and somehow managed to grab two packs of 20-22 instead!

I'm quite petite so they look a bit like incontinence pants on me but they are sooo comfortable I don't care how much DH laughs at me Grin

Yesterday I got some 'shorts' style knickers from Sainsbury's, two sizes up from my usual, and they are very comfortable too.

badguider · 19/07/2013 20:03

all my normal pants fit fine - i wear seam-free 'boy shorts'..

TobyLerone · 19/07/2013 20:09

Sainsbury's have massive pants. I couldn't bring myself to buy them so I got a size up in high legs. They're amazing. They almost reach my belly button and they don't roll down or ride up.

I'm not ruling out the ginormopants for later, but these'll do for now.

fluffyraggies · 19/07/2013 20:12

Lol @ incontinence pants Grin

The thing which attracted me to these boy short things i mentioned was the fact that they look quite petite and almost trendy (kidding myself?) when not being worn. ie: not too monsterous on the washing line or if DH someone else is sorting the laundry (rare, but .... i'm trying to cling on to some sense of dignity while i still can here, lol).

It's only when they're on your body that the amazing stretch in the fabric reveals it's self!

How about Tesco online OP? They can deliver them to you along with a big tub of ice-cream, or something equally lovely :)

fluffyraggies · 19/07/2013 20:12

badguider - yes! these i'm on about are seam free boy shorts.

BumbleBeesGoBuzz · 19/07/2013 20:24

I am going to town tomorrow so shall go on a hunt for these mystery boy shorts Grin

if I am usually a 16 and that size pants just roll down all the time, should I go up to 18 or bigger?

OP posts:
fluffyraggies · 19/07/2013 21:08

Well - i think it all depends on the make tbh. Some shop's sizes come up so small .....

I was size 14ish, and now feel size 18ish. I bought large, and cos they're stretchy they're fine. (they didn't come in XL, i looked!)

Bigger the better really. I'd go 20 and see how they are when you get them home.

BumbleBeesGoBuzz · 19/07/2013 21:09

true, I'm only gonna get bigger anyway Grin

I lived in mothercare maternity briefs. Full briefs that covered the bump. Enormous but oh so comfy! I must add the pregnancies did not involve a summer like this though!

BumbleBeesGoBuzz · 19/07/2013 21:14

I am hating this heat. genuinely could live under the cold shower

HMT13 · 19/07/2013 21:15

Fluffyraggies - I'm with you, bought them yesterday. Got a medium which I think is a 12-14. I'm usually an 8-10 so these are absolute bliss!! Didnt realise that area would expand, naive! Going to buy more tomorrow Smile

Miggs28 · 19/07/2013 21:18

i bought bikini briefs from M&S that sat under my bump and also did get the mothercare maternity briefs for days at the very end of my pregnancy when I was huge and just wanted the maximum comfort possible, I ended up having a c-section and the mothercare briefs were a god-send as all my other pants sat right on my scar.

sazzle82 · 19/07/2013 21:47

My normal knickers are just starting to not fit and roll down (I'm 32 weeks and it's not the most elegant of sites seeing me trying to hitch my knickers up under my dress in work every time I stand up) so I went on mothercare website tonight and they had blooming marvellous packs of 3 shorts in the clearance sale at £5. Have ordered a couple of packs so will know next week how good they are

BumbleBeesGoBuzz · 19/07/2013 22:30

so the consensus is giant pants that go up to my armpits and magical boy shorts then?

I've just invested in the sainsburys full briefs in a size 18. I'm normally a 16/18. They are humongous but cover bump - I'm almost 39 weeks - and are so comfy. DH has laughed at them but its so good to have pants which don't roll down and get uncomfy. I basically got them in case of CS for after birth, but think I'll be in them until DC2 appears and for some time afterwards.

babyhmummy01 · 19/07/2013 23:48

Granny pants here too, am a 16 normally but primarni size 20/22 are fitting nicely, 18/20 for my Tesco ones

Anothermrssmith · 20/07/2013 15:51

I got some good undies in evans, usually an 18 and got a 20-22, plenty of room (but not so much they fall down) and super comfy

FreckleyGirlAbroad · 20/07/2013 16:14

H&M do some quite nice maternity pants in a pack of 3 - quite big but not too much and comfy. All I need now are some boy shorts to stop the legs chafing at the top when I wear dresses in the hot weather!!!

BumbleBeesGoBuzz · 21/07/2013 09:25

I found the boy shorts and am in love. how can they look so small yet grow so much? Grin

Yay! I thought of you this morning while pulling up mine Blush

They give a pretty god smooth line too. Enjoy Grin
