Swimming costume?

Can anyone advise on the best places to try for a swimming costume?

I'm 14.5wks with a small but rapidily growing bump and my boobs have exploded into those of a glamour model, so I'm not getting any support from my current one!

I've seen a couple of maternity ones, but they look massive in the bump area. I'm after something that will fit now, but also accommodate a growing bump and give me some support across my chest.

Any suggestions and advice welcome! Thanks.

I've always been a bikini girl and have just bought bigger sizes than normal.

What about trying a tankini?

Nellysgirl · 18/07/2013 15:15

Well not too helpful but I'm 29 weeks and just got a nice one in the mamas and papas sale it fits nicely xxx

Nellysgirl · 18/07/2013 15:16

Oh and I forgot to mention the bump section stretched to fit and only £14!

NoComet · 18/07/2013 15:18

I just stretched my normal ones and binned them at the end.

I have casual ones from m&s and figleaves and a sports one from speedo. I've found sports ones generally v pricey but fit well. The figleaves one has a smaller bump area than the m&s and probably won't last me to 40w. I did stay in my usual suits to 22 weeks, just had to put up with them cutting in & showing more cleavage!
I've always liked zoggs swimsuits and just noticed that they have a nice maternity one here

I love for Luna (online) which have gorgeous 50s style swimsuits. Might be worth a look. Not sure how long they'd accommodate for, not being maternity, but they are so flattering and lovely

I got a spotty one in the John Lewis sale last week (£12). It has strings along the bump bit so you can adjust it - it fits me now at 15 weeks.

YoniMitchell · 18/07/2013 17:13

Thanks ladies - I really can't stick with my current ones - one is too tight (Speedo) and cuts in now and the other can't cope with my new boobs and makes me look like a fat porn star!

I'm a bikini fan on holidays, but not in the gym pool but will look at tankinis - I'll check out the Mamas and Papas sale and Luna. Strings sound like a good idea too.

I managed to get a not too horribly frumpy coustume from the Mamas & Papas sale so it's definately worth a look to see if they still have your size. There are loads on Ebay too if you can bear 2nd hand.

Queazy · 18/07/2013 17:33

Topshop do some nice ones. I got mine off ebay (topshop)

TangfasticMrFoxalastic · 18/07/2013 19:50

I got a great non-maternity one from Asda, which is a better shape and fit than my Mothercare one!

Jojo3737 · 18/07/2013 21:52

I got a fab one from H&M, black and really flattering. Was only about £15 too.

PinkApple86 · 18/07/2013 22:49

I got a nice polka dot one from asos.com and the front it ruffly so a smaller bump would look fine. I wore it at 29 weeks.

Newmum0113 · 19/07/2013 00:52

I just bought a tanking set from Next Clearance which cost £4 for the top and £3 for the bottoms. Pretty blue colour with little red and whit flowers - for that price you could get a small one and a large one for when you've grown a bit :-)

42andcounting · 19/07/2013 08:02

I second next clearance, got a nice navy/ white spotty one piece for £7, plenty of room for tummy to grow but has looked ok since about 15 weeks (it looks sort of ruched on the tum). So much more comfy on the bump than a normal lycra support! :)

RunningBear78 · 19/07/2013 10:05

I've ended up with a non-maternity cheapy from Decathlon two sizes bigger than my usual ones and wearing a sports bikini top underneath for those amazing porn star boobs (which sadly, at 31 weeks have now gone Sad) and that combination works well.
The maternity ones I tried on didn't provide much support for boobs, and also I don't like to swim in anything other than cosies with X back straps as I feel like they'll fall off doing proper swimming!
