Hello!

Baby normally wakes up during my morning cup of tea in bed, but so far this morning I've felt nothing. Had a hot drink when I got to work. Next step is a chocolate bar ...

I think my bump has changes shape so maybe baby is just facing the other way.

At what point would you call the midwife?

TIA

Sometimes a cold can of coke will get the baby dancing! It's good to lie down for ten minutes - but if you're at work of course you can't do that can you? A midwife will always be glad to be phoned if you are worried, they will far rather get a call from you and talk it through than have you worry all day.

Any change to the pattern of movements is worth getting checked. I would give the midwife a ring this morning if I were you. Don't feel that you're wasting their time.

It probably is just a change in position like you say but still better to get checked.

I'd call now tbh, it's most likely fine and you've just not felt it, but best to be on the safe side.

If you can't get hold of them straightaway can you sit quietly for 10 mins and have a cold drink? Hopefully that will get it moving.

Try drinking a very cold drink and laying down. Also hold a cold cup of cold water on your bump. Baby might be moving but like you say, facing the other way so you can't feel it

if that doesn't work, ring the midwife

I'm 29 weeks and I'm usually woken up to acrobatics in my tummy. However if its warm my little one has a lie in and lazy day. Generally gets going in the night on days like that so I'm sure you will be ok.
I got mine a little musical rabbit teddy that I play to it when I'm worried and that generally gets things moving. Can u do anything like that?
Thinking of you - it's always a worry isn't it. Xxx

I'd always call the midwife if you are concerned. Chances are they will call you in, have a listen and put your mind at rest. Don't be worried about bothering them, it is what they are there for. Honestly, I was a regular at the Day Unit with my pregnancy - DS often had lazy days and freaked me out. Always worth getting checked out imo.

DefiniteMaybe · 18/07/2013 10:54

I'd call the midwife to put your mind at ease.

Nellysgirl · 18/07/2013 11:11

Oh an I might add I have also been a regular at the hospital getting checked for a heartbeat.
Can't be too careful.

Just at quick update - baby's fine. We could hear on the monitor that baby was kicking a lot, but I just couldn't feel much.

If in doubt, check!
