Hi everyone

Please help, I'm desperate! I've been trying to manage terrible heartburn for the past month or so (I'm 34 weeks) and there is only so much gaviscon and other such medicines can do to help.

I've been trying to stick to food that doesn't set it off (no spicy food or anything acidic here!) but was hoping that you might have suggestions for "safe" indigestion foods since there's only so much banana milk this girl can take!

Any suggestions gratefully received.

I've been suffering as well, everything sets mine off. I do find coconut water helps, it also helps with those night leg cramps as its full of potassium.

mmmm I will tell you my top tip, which have discussed with two docs and they think there is a method in it. I drink a small glass of coke. Not diet - full fat. Now I normally give all soft drinks a massive wide berth - but honestly it is the only thing that really stops it. gaviscon was useless, rennies were ok. But I had run out one day and tried coke since I remembered being told once it helped with a sore tum. It was amazing! My docs friends said that it might be by giving the body extra acid, it stops producing so much. Might be worth a try x

I heat up a cup of milk in the microwave in the evening when my heartburn strikes, it helps mine a lot...hope it gets a bit better for you soon.

I had terrible heart burn...the other week I was diagnosed with diabetes and told to stop drinking milk as I was downing pints of it. Ever since then i've had no heartburn which is great. I've cut down sugar obviously as well...whatever it us its working and I can sleep without a million pillows and I can lie on my left side again! Hope you find a cure!

I swear by greek yoghurt after every meal. The probiotics really help! Try it :) you could also try probiotic tablets.

I found that cutting out all sugar worked for me.

It really is awful - I feel for you.

Thanks ladies, your responses are really helpful and I shall try them all out. The feeling sick (and constant risk of being sick!) are getting pretty tedious so your ideas are really welcome.
