Engaged or low what's the difference?

I had a MW appointment and she got me to pull my knees (feet by bum) so she could feel the bb head at my pelvis as she couldn't feel it with my legs flat. MW said the bb is low but that was all, he has been all the way through my preg. so thought nothing of it and didn't ask what it ment.
So now I'm wondering is low the same as engaged?

(Don't worry I know it dosn't mean an early arrival just wondering is all.)
