Empty sac at 8weeks

new to this but hoping some of you can share your stories to help me! I went for a scan last friday, believe I am approx 8 weeks and all that was seen was an empty sac measuring 21mm. I do have a tilted uterus so not sure if this makes a difference. I was to prepare for the worst and go back on friday for a scan and it is likely to be diagnosed as an embryonic pregnancy if i measure 25mm. Has anyone been in a similar situation, this is my first baby and praying for a miracle but just feeling so low while I wait for Friday.

Could you be 2-3 weeks less pregnant than you think? What did the sonographer say about the tilted uterus?

I am not sure when I ovulated, but max could be a week out. She didn't mention it, and to be honest I hadn't thought to mention it until I did some reading after. Will mention it on Friday, but my head is all over this week, waiting to miscarry.

I had a scan at around 7 weeks and I could only see the sac. Sonographer said there was definitely a yolk there but you couldn't see it!

Then the next scan I had, they put me back a few days so it could be that you're not as far gone as you think.

I wouldn't worry too much until Friday, because if you're not feeling any pains or seeing blood it could be fine...and even then some women still go on to have healthy babies.

Good luck on Friday

Thanks, it's just nice talking about it! I have had a little spotting right since I found out I was pregnant, but no proper bleed and no pains. The sonographer said there was the yolk, but was going to be realistic with us and explained what anembryonic pregnancy was. Did you have an internal scan?

Hello, I have had experience of this. The first pregnancy I had was very similar, empty gestational sac at 8 weeks. They did rescan after a week to confirm it and it was. Sorry as I know that is not terribly positive to read Sad.

They told me that it was a blighted ovum...the embryo having stopped development very early on but the sac kept growing. I had a medical termination a week after.

On a more positive note my friend who had similar simply turned out to be a whole month earlier than she had thought.

Thanks for being honest, I am trying not to get my hopes up too much, it's hard not knowing either way and it's a terrible waiting game. Sounds very similar to what I'm experiencing, I'll keep you posted after Friday.

Yes, it was internal as there's no way they would have seen anything by scanning my stomach.
