I really cant cope today...i feel like a hot hippo. My 2 yr old wouldnt go for a nap this afternoon so ive had no rest. Dh is working so ive had to deal with it all on my own aswell as being in slow labour.
Feel like crying and nearly lost the plot

hows everyone else coping?

Has your LO got a paddling pool? Can sit in that in cool water. Will entertain him/her as well. Feeling sorry for you.

Ficidy · 13/07/2013 18:37

Totally understand your pain. 35+2 and really uncomfortable. Being pregnant in the height of summer is no fun. And I've no toddler to entertain. Hope you manage to cool down tonight.

Much sympathy. I live in a Hot Country - it's been 30+ for weeks now - I'm 4 days overdue & my un-napping 4year old finished school 4 weeks ago. I do little things - think 20mins 'activities' with DS then break it up with just as long sitting watching him 'play' (the house is chaotic/untidied in the extreme by the eve!) - dens are good, playing shop etc - anything that involves sitting! Paddling pool for child & you sit with your feet in - 'let' them wash your feet! Also, invaluable for me, is getting out eg. Park but early! I was there 8.30am this week which means I don't feel guilty wacking a DVD on later when sane children (&adults!) Are napping! Good luck - lots of sympathy as I said.

Sympathies! 26 weeks here and in a hellishly hot flat with no outdoor space so can't do paddling pools etc, and a hot hot hot walk to the nearest trees/green space. 2 year old also not napping here....

Choco I've cried today - nothing to be ashamed about. Tried to cool off by putting my feet in DD's paddling pool. She told me to take them out as I was getting grass in there!

Have fan set up in bedroom and about to eat some ice cream. heaven.

It's still crazily hot...I can't believe I'm moaning that we have beautiful weather but I'm melting Hmm xx

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 13/07/2013 21:01

Me too. So so hot. My ankles are a hideous size and I'm shattered. I'm only 25 weeks, feel so sorry for you ladies on the last stretch of pregnancy.

nicecupofteaplease · 13/07/2013 21:04

Ahhh, me too. 30 weeks and very grumpy in the heat. Things I found that helped - filling up a big toy trug with cold water and sitting in the shade with my feet in it; cold showers and air drying; filling the freezer with ice cube trays and having ice with everything.

KnickersOnOnesHead · 14/07/2013 14:48

I'm only in first trimester and have been complaining it's too hot! Feel for you all are in the last!

muppetthecow · 14/07/2013 14:58

Glad I'm not the only one - 36+ 2 with a hot, grumpy toddler too. I spent most of yesterday afternoon sat with him in the giant paddling pool but have seriously aggravated my SPD doing it so I'm having to make do without it today. I had a complete meltdown and cried at the end of church today when my DS fell asleep at the end of the service because it meant I wouldn't get half an hour to myself when we got home.
Choco I tried putting an ice towel around my neck the other day (well it seemed to work for Murray at Wimbledon...) and it was really helpful! Even just a towel soaked in some cool/cold water is great because you can use it and still deal with your grumpy overtired toddler.
