Constant sickness, tired but can't sleep, spots and greasy hair and i'm only 7 weeks pregnant....

This is my first pregnancy, i'm 28 years old, and just reached 7 weeks pregnant. I honestly can't believe what a struggle it is, every piece of food makes me sick, food has become the enemy even though i know i must try to eat. I throw up my pregnancy multivitamin and worry that my baby is not getting what it needs. People say oh just eat ginger biscuits before you get up and you'll be fine - this has had no effect whatsoever.

I'm tired all the time and it's a struggle to work full-time at my stressful job. It's a lovely sunny day and i can't bear to move from the sofa. This is really getting me down as i'm normally full of energy. Can someone please tell me that this will get better?!

Sorry for moaning!x

Dont be sorry...its tough making a baby. Keep hydrated in this weather. You just have to get through it and believe that you will....because you will x

NataleeW28 · 13/07/2013 18:04

Thanks Chocomama, i think i naively thought i'd feel good but i feel like the life has been sucked out of me!x

Take away the spots and throw in fainting and you've summed up my entire first pregnancy , I survived the 40 weeks on a diet of baked potatoes and cheesy wotsits ( that's not a bad combination to throw up!) . My baby was 10lb 3 oz ( no diabetes involved) and was worth every miserable second of it , he's 20 yrs old now! Good luck ,eventually you'll laugh about it .

NataleeW28 · 13/07/2013 18:18

Oh gosh i can't imagine this lasting for the whole pregnancy! Even discussions of food turn my stomach - literally nothing appeals to me and whatever i manage to eat inevitably comes back up!

I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end but i'm worried that i feel like this and have so far to go x

It does become a bit of a joke when your choice of food is decided by what you can face revisiting you ,I would always say stay clear of roast lamb!

ThreeEyedRaven · 13/07/2013 18:33

I was just about to start a thread about morning sickness only to find you had written what I wanted to word for word.

Glued to my sofa eating white bland carbs where I can. Tried to watch a cookery programme earlier and even that made me feel ill Sad

I'm 6+6 and feel like death. Signed off sick for 10 days, supposed to go back on Monday but no idea how. Think I might need another sick note.

Feels like such a stupid thing to be off with, however ot has to be said that my GP has been wonderful. Do go see your GP, there's no reason to suffer on.

NataleeW28 · 13/07/2013 18:43

I really feel for you ThreeEyedRaven and at least we can take some sort of strange comfort in the fact that somewhere out there on this boiling day there is another mum-to-be sat on her sofa trying to stomach the plainest of plain foods and keep some water down. i think i'll have to take your advice and speak to my GP - the thought of going to work on Monday is a nightmare. Is this your first pregnancy too?x

ThreeEyedRaven · 13/07/2013 18:47

it is Smile and yes, that is a strange comfort!

I think I'm going to go back to my GP on Monday, they were much more sympathetic and supportive than I expected!

I'm building up to eating some strawberries, hope you feel better soon Grin

NataleeW28 · 13/07/2013 18:49

Good luck with that! Yes hope you feel better soon too x

I am 9 weeks and have been feeling the same as you since week 6. The last few days have been better. I've been to the doctor and have tablets to take 3x daily which are helping a bit. I have struggled to stay hydrated in this weather and find the best drinks are sprite, fanta etc can't do water it makes me gag.
I've been off work for last 3 weeks and don't feel guilty as mine and my babies health has to come first.
Hang in there lovely, it will get better soon and will all be worth it. I am due 16th feb, how about you? :)

NataleeW28 · 13/07/2013 21:11

Thank you - i will definitely go to the Doctor as this is unbearable. I find that some people just have no idea how bad it is and they think that you're just complaining, it's comforting to talk to people on here who understand what it's like! My job involves going to Court and i can barely get off the sofa - i agree that your health/babies health is most important.

My due date is 28th Feb so not far from yours! I'm glad the tablets are helping you a bit - hopefully it'll continue to get better x

You'd be proud of me, I made it off the sofa to the bathroom floor earlier. Greatest energy expenditure so far today!

Am now camped safely back on my sofa

NataleeW28 · 13/07/2013 22:21

Good work! It's times like this i wish we had a downstairs bathroom!

I can promise you it gets better. Right now you are doin the hardest bit of growing a real live little person (and placenta, and making extra blood etc etc) and it is tough. Once the placenta takes over you will start getting a bit of energy back and feeling a bit more human. And you will start getting a lovely little bump to rub. I'd forgotten just how rough these first weeks are but i'm now 11 weeks & things are improving.

Ice lollys are good in this weather, also travel sickness wrist bands can help too. And rest whenever you can.

ThreeEyedRaven · 13/07/2013 22:32

That's so good to hear Smile. I have to keep telling myself that this will be totally worth it in the end.

Natalie I feel for you, I'm in a flat so its very easy to get to the bathroom!

quackojuliet · 13/07/2013 22:45

I'm 14 weeks now and felt similarly a few weeks ago - it was awful.I was surprised how bad,the worst I've ever felt. Baby literally sucks the life out of you and you are a shell of yourself for that time...
But it does get better! For me,around 12 weeks I saw a big improvement and went back to work after a few weeks off. Stressful job and worrying about that just makes it all worse so do go and see your gp to get signed off.they are likely to be very understanding.
Good luck...count down the days...and try and treat yourself - trashy dvds, mags, whatever you need to keep your spirits up x

Dollybird86 · 13/07/2013 22:47

Oh just wait until the rest of the fun starts! It took me until about wk 20 to feel human & even now at 26 wks I still have bad days I threw up when brushing my teeth this morning! Just for fun! Lol best thing to do is rest have u got a boxset u would like to watch? I watched downton Abbey in the early Weeks & that made me feel less depressed. Hope u feel better soon

Natale28 · 13/07/2013 22:48

Thanks cravingcake and quackojuliet - your posts have both given me some hope that this will get better as the pregnancy progresses! I've been indulging in lots of chick flicks - 'Four Weddings and a Funeral', 'It's Complicated' and 'The Lucky One' - all today!x

EmB1715 · 13/07/2013 22:49

So sorry you're feeling this way. I think the sickness was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do! Pregnancy is hard, so much tougher than I imagined. I also find other people really ignorant to how it feels...staying with in-laws at the mo and MIL had easy, great pregnancies and no one else has been through it. I'm so grumpy with everyone!
Eat whatever you can and do whatever you want until you feel a but more normal! Don't worry about baby, your body will give baby all it needs.

Natale28 · 13/07/2013 22:52

Thanks Dollybird - i'm getting into Luther and missed the first series so might get that boxset!

And EmB1715 - i know exactly what you mean about the people who had great pregnancies - good for them but absolutely no consolation to you when you feel like you're dying!x

LittleMilla · 14/07/2013 21:43

I found the pregnacare pills made me sicker. Maybe just try and take some folic acid on its own and a regular multi vit?

ThreeEyedRaven · 15/07/2013 10:52

How are you doing today OP? Spoke to my GP earlier who was fantastic. Another sicknote and some new tablets. Said to go back if no improvement in a few days. Such a relief to have it taken seriously!

lolabelladolly · 15/07/2013 11:09

I know just how you feel. I'm 7weeks into my first pregnancy and i cannot believe how quickly my body has changed! Spots - check, greasy hair - check and general exhaustion - check. I'm at work now and struggling to keep my eyes open!
Also keep crying at the slighest thing - is this normal??!!
