I've heard your body has a clear out before labour so diarrhea can be a sign it's not too far away but I was wondering if anyone had it for a few days before it started.

I'm 40+1 today. I've been having very minor cramps for a couple of weeks now (so minor I'm not even sure I'd notice them if I wasn't analysing every twinge) with an occasional slightly more significant one. Haven't had a show but lots of discharge including some quite mucusy (think eycm).

On Wednesday evening I suddenly got stomach cramps and diarrhea which got be a bit excited but it subsided. Then I was woken up with the same on Thursday morning. It went away during the day but then yesterday and this morning I've had it again.

I don't think it's a bug or something I've eaten as it's just in the morning. Is it possible that the 'clear out' takes place over a few days? Has anyone else had this and was labour imminent?

I had it, also threw up just as I was living for hospital, good luck

In my first pregnancy my body had a massive clear out and the same night I went into labour. I was exactly 40 weeks. I'm now 37 weeks an have had loose bowel movements like you for 4 days.
I hope it means things will start happening sooner rather than later.

beckie90 · 13/07/2013 10:21

With ds2 my "clearout" lasted around 2wks :/ xx

Thank you!

suffolk I've been walking loads and on my ball whenever I get a chance. Been trying to rest as well but too hot to be on the house most of the time!

lovebeingup poor thing I hate being sick so hope I avoid it in labour... Sounds like it could be promising though!

duende good luck. I thought it normally happened in one night like with your first so I got all excited on Wednesday but nothing!

beckie aargh 2 weeks! Can't wait that long!

Actually it's not been too bad now I'm on maternity leave. I feel more sorry for anyone still at work. I've just been lounging around eating ice and we've got an outdoor pool nearby which is heaven!

Thats not the usual case though lol and seen as your already 40+1 id say things are getting ready for you. Good luck :) xx

Hmm it's got quite a bit worse today so hope it does mean labour's getting close!

I experienced the clear out - went out for dinner with my girlfriends to a sushi place, woke at 5am to vomit which I thought was odd as the food was great and I knew full well it wasn't food poisoning.

About 5 minutes after the vomiting, I was shitting through the eye of a needle to put it kindly, it wasn't painful but was just like water. Was having pretty consistent BH for weeks prior to this but waters went at 11am and DC arrived at 4pm. And having spoken to friends, they had the same thing, some for days prior.

Good luck, hope baby arrives soon!

cogitosum · 13/07/2013 21:11

Thanks stroke. That's quite interesting as it's just been loose the last few days whereas today it was literally water (lurverly) so I hope something's happening!

OOooh, I predict baby here by Sunday night/early hours of Monday morning.

Completely uneducated guess of course but here's hoping for you! Let us know how you get on Grin

Quinandthem · 14/07/2013 03:22

The night before my waters broke I could not get off the loo. Literally had the ring of fire!

It occurred to me after my 2 or 3 visit that it could be labour related and thank god it was.

cogitosum · 14/07/2013 09:09

Thanks I hope so! Nothing happened in the night but had diarrhea again this morning. If it continues with no baby I might get a bit worried about dehydration in this weather! Drinking loads of water but debating whether to avoid food a bit...

Hi Cogito, same here though I appreciate I'm not as far gone as you. 2 or 3 rushed visits to the loo in the morning and then fine again during the day. Fingers crossed things start happening for you soon now.
