I think I'm miscarrying....

I am either 7 or 8 weeks pregnant and have had bleeding for about 2 weeks now. Had a scan Monday just gone which said all looked fine, saw heartbeat & midwife could see the bleed on the screen but said she wasn't overly concerned. I had bleeding with DD on and off from 8 weeks to 34 weeks but it was always just a bit & then stopped. This has been continuous & today I feel like its got worse. Not hugely worse but have noticed blood in my pants & a dull period like ache. What should I do? Do I just have to wait it out? Should I call out of hours Dr? Will they be able to tell me if I am miscarrying or not?

Sorry MrsRV, it's horrible to be bleeding and worried. Out of hours doctor will only be able to examine you and tell you if your cervix is still closed or is opening up. You really will need a scan to see if baby is still ok or not. Most early pregnancy units are a Monday-Friday thing but worth finding out if your local one does anything over the weekend, or making an arrangement to be seen Monday. You may need a Gp referral or if you've already been seen this pregnancy you may be able to self-refer.
If you have heavy bleeding (soaking a maxi pad in less than an hour) or feel unwell then go to A+E.
Sadly there is nothing anyone can do to affect the outcome, it will either all be ok (I had several big bleeds with DS2 and it was fine) or it won't (4 miscarriages Sad ) If you need your hand held there is plenty of sympathy on the miscarriage board for anyone in doubt about a pregnancy and feeling in limbo or if the miscarriage progresses.
Fingers crossed it all settles back down and is ok.

Thank you. I'm preparing myself for the worst now so i guess I'll just see what happens over the weekend & if it gets worse I'll call the EPU.

I bled until about 24 weeks with my second child. I hated going to the loo.
The first bad bleed at about 8 weeks I had pain so I was checked out on a Saturday. Couldn't scan me ( not on a weekend as EPU not open in our area but they checked the cervix or something and got me booked in for Monday. And they were really kind.

It horrible waiting but if the pain gets worse please go to the hospital. Don't want to scare you but they check its not an ectopic pregnancy.

Take lots of care.

I had a lot of bleeding and tortuous cramping around that time and I'm still pregnant, nearly in 3rd trimester!

Mine was due to a haematoma which resolved itself, baby was fine.

As others have said, normally Early Pregnancy Unit is Mon-Fri and there is nothing to be done over the weekend unless it's dramatic bleeding. I waited in A and E once hoping they would scan- it was a complete waste of time!

I was already scanned earlier this week and they confirmed everything in right place. So not eptopic. Just wait and see then. Trying not to be hopeful.... If u know what I mean...

Hope the pain is subsiding. I have my fingers crossed. Hope it's an uneventful weekend.
