Can someone PLEASE quench my thirst?!

I am 20 + 5 and have been thirsty for at least a month! No matter how much fluid I take it, the thirst never goes away. I have tried a variety of drinks (hot drinks, cold drinks, soft drinks, fruit juice, bottled water....), but nothing helps.

Might sound stupid, but it is driving me mental!!

Is it just me?

Have you told your MW or consultant about this? Excessive thirst is a symptom of gestational diabetes, so please get yourself checked out asap.

Really?? My MW is a real joke, I have been excessively tired too and have tried to get hold of her for weeks, only to be told that she was on holiday for 3 weeks and forgot to call me back! My GP surgery said they couldn't help me and I had to speak to her Angry

Thanks, I will make an appt

Tiredness can be a sign too - you need to speak to someone sooner rather than later. So Angry that you haven't been getting the support you need. Hopefully it is nothing beyond ordinary pregnancy tiredness and the hot weather - but you should be able to talk through your concerns with a HCP of some sort.

i had excessive thirst during my pregnancy. did not have GD.

i phoned NHS direct in the middle of the night in tears because I was so frustrated and in such discomfort. no amount of drinking could quench my thirst and I was constantly on the toilet.

i was told to suck on an ice cube.

this does help a bit actually.

I'm afraid the two things you get no sympathy for in pregnancy are excessive thirst and itching. Those were my main symptoms. sigh.
