Hi kedgar

Two years since I had my last child but I don't think there is anything too much to worry about. You won't see anyone as often as you think - your next visit will prob be your dating scan around 12 weeks, then an anomoly scan at around 22 weeks tho this can vary according to area.

You will probably see you mwife once a month after 12 weeks for a urine test. This goes up to once every 2 weeks when you get to the final few weeks. Unless you have problems they let you get on really.

Best of luck and enjoy.

Kedgar,
I had just the same treatment from my docs and midwife as you. i had my initial booking in appointment, and then a scan at twelve weeks, then another at 20 wks. it wasn't until i was about 30 wks till i starting seeing the midwife regularly, and i have had 2 previous miscarriages and still didn't get anymore treatment.
I wouldn't be surprised at what you are receiving, it is normal for a lot of areas. If you're conerned at all about the baby, then i would arrange to see them, or just call and ask advice, they're very helpful. They just don't go out of their way.

Stay positive and congratulations

You probably won't be seen until you are around 15 weeks now.
This is for you to have the triple test if you would like it.

If your concerned ring up your gp and ask to get a booking in appt with the MW.

I know it's easier said than done but try to relax and not worry yourself too much. You could if you wanted to, go to your local gp and have a chat with them. Even a little chat might put your mind at ease. When I was pregs I remember thinking that you really do go it alone, I thought I'd have way more appointments but everything worked out fine. Congrats btwSmile
All you need to do is post any questions you have on MN. You'll get all the advice you need no matter how silly you think the questions might be.

Hi Kerry

Huge congratulations and Shock at you guys all being left alone with your pregnancies. Realise now that I was really lucky. We had monthly visits to a midwife from the start, moving up to fortnightly after 30 weeks.

You might want to get yourself a book out to find out about pregnancy. Did your GP mention folic acid to you? You ought to be taking it now, in tablet form available from the chemist. There are certain foods that you should avoid too. And you have a pelvic floor to start exercising!! (You'll be grateful later on if you do so now) Then you can relax and enjoy your pregnancy. As HB says, ask on Mumsnet about anything else. There are folks here who have experienced everything.

Best of luck

Hi kedgar, congratulations! Where I live, the doc refers you to the hosp for a 12 wk scan, they refer you to the mw for the bloods at 15 wks then IIRC we don't see the mw till 22 wks. It's all very boring when really it's very exciting! It will all pass soon though and before you know it you'll be 40 wks! Lots of places give a routine scan at 2 wks but we don't get that. Sad
Good luck!
