transverse babies

I'm almost 35 weeks and I found out this week that dd2 is lying transverse, my midwife has booked a scan for Thursday next week to have a look at the baby and check her position properly but while she did this she didn't explain anything other than the baby is lying across my bump rather than up and down but she looked concerned.

Just wondering if anyone has any information about transverse babies or has been 'through' it? Please :)

Hello! Not sure I can be massively helpful, but my baby was transverse at 32 weeks. Up until 36-37 weeks there's still a strong chance the baby may move by itself into the correct, head down position. If not, they may suggest a procedure to move the baby manually called external cephalic version (basically the dr massages your belly and tries to push the baby into the right position). If that doesn't work then they may well suggest a c section to get the baby out safely.

You still have a good chance that baby will move of its own accord, so good luck. I have seen lots of people on here recommend a website called spinning babies which apparently has some good techniques you can try to get your baby to move, but I haven't tried it myself. Fortunately my babba did the job herself (hoping she doesn't move back again - am only 35 weeks now!). Hope yours does the same!

Hiya thanks for replying, you've been more help than my midwife and Google :)

I'm so glad theres a chance she'll move herself, I really really don't want a section. Abdominal surgery is not my idea of a good time Wink I'll have a look at spinning babies, I try not to touch my bump much because It's agony whenever she moves but I'd rather try than not!

Good luck keeping yours in place Grin I keep saying this dc is more trouble than she is worth Blush my previous 2 pregnancies were so easy compared to this one though. I just can't wait till I'm not pregnant anymore and can have squishy cuddles :)
