I'm 35 weeks along and found out that my DS is breech, I would like to wait as long as possible before booking a cesarean. Has anyone been in the same position? My MW has not really given us info about what to expect or how long to wait, and reading up on the internet is just confusing Confused

My DD was breech from the 20wk scan right through to birth so I had a c section. I was offered an ECV to try and turn the baby which I declined. My CS was booked the week before my due date so it was left as long as possible, however DD had other plans and I went into labour on the Friday night, with CS booked for Mon. They also checked she was still breech before going to theatre as if she had turned they would have expected me to deliver naturally. I had been geared up for a c section for most of the pregnancy. C section and recovery was all amazing. Worst thing was waiting 14 hours for a theatre slot as it was the weekend, so I had already been through a lot of labour pain.

Thank you Rubberducky24 that puts my mind at ease I watched a video on ECV and im not that keen on it at all so im glad that I would have the option to decline it. :) Thanks

I've had three breech babies. first turned at about 36 weeks and stayed had down. Second was footling and so was delivered as late as they would let me - 38 wks due to the risk of cord prolapse. Last baby I had planned a cs as late as possible (last week) but she had other ideas and I went into labour at 39 wks and ended up with an emcs which I am finding much more difficult to get over.

As long as everything is ok with you and the baby, they should allow you to leave your section as long as poss, though bear in mind that your baby may have its own ideas as to its birth date!

Thank you Shelly72 :)
I like the idea of leaving him to do his own thing as long as possible Thanks

My ds was breech, I knew he wouldn't turn and was right. Booked for section at 39.5 weeks, he came at 38. Had a scan to check still breech then into theatre. I was in labour 4 hours, only 1 hour in pain. All fine, no complications or worries.

Perfect thank you, reading what everyone had to day has really put me at ease :)

I was booked for section at 39 weeks due to breech. By then I was desperately uncomfortable with carpal tunnel etc and very relieved it would be over soon. I don't know how I would have made it to 41 weeks. Just something to consider.
