6 weeks in and my fanny is on fire. Went to GP other day for something else and didn't think to mention it as figured I'd just buy some canestan. Went to pharmacy and they woupdnt sell me any without a script due to pregnancy. Argh!

I'be read its fine to use topical canestan in pregnancy rather than the oral one. What do you lot do to treat thrush in pregnancy? Seems bonkers to go back to my GP!

I used topical cream and pessaries. The oral version as you say is not suitable. I think in part the reason for not selling it unless the doctor has suggested it is because the itching might be something else that might need treatment. I also drank more water and cut back on sugary things which I'm sure helped. HTH

That does sound sensible, will give it a try. Thanks!

ThreeEyedRaven - the oral tablet is absolutely fine, i've had recurrent thrush throughout this pregnancy andhve been given the tablet twice by the doctor.

sadly it didn't do much!

the pessaries were much, much better, i have a jumbo pack in my fridge!

also get involved in some pro biotic tablets, these helped a lot.

it is worth saying that mine was also connected to a UTI for which i had no symptoms - if left untreated this canbe nasty. so it is worth keeping an eye on how you feel and getting checked for that if no changes....

The oral tablet isn't recommended for use in pregnancy, only pessaries or cream. GP also wouldn't prescribe oral tablet while breastfeeding.

Mines related to the antibiotics I used to get rid of the UTI.

Pessaries sound like a good idea, will give them a go!
