Hi I am 31 weeks. Baby measured a week bigger at last scan. I feel so, so big. I am only very small in height. Should I cut down what I am eating? I swim at lot a and on my feet a good bit. I have not increased by intake from usual diet pre-pregnancy. I honestly don't know can I cope with being any bigger.

No don't try to cut down, everyone gains differently through pg but cutting down won't help it's baby, fluid, placenta it all adds up! I was measuring v. Big at my 28 week app had next app at 31 and he was on top line again :) don't worry about it :)

I think you only need to worry when you're very big...I'm 32 Weeks and measuring 40. Reducing eating wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference as my problem is excess amniotic fluid. also the measuring is not an exact science...just relax and enjoy!

I too measured a week ahead one week, and exactly on the line two weeks later - i'm also sure its not an exact science?

If they were worried they'd see you for a scan...my midwife referred me and it turns out I have too much fluid which is quite rare....if they thought you were too big they'd say

If you are quite short then the distance between your ribs and your pelvis will be smaller. Therefore your bump needs to stick out more. I wouldn't worry at all if I were you. The midwife would tell you if she were worried.

I really wouldn't worry yourself over 1cm. I'm measuring 10cm over Grin so at 38 weeks I'm pretty massive! X

U know it just occurred to me my midwife has never measured me! Whereabouts do I put the tape measure I'm gonna do myself! Sorry carry on didnt mean to burst in on ur thread!

And no dont cut down on eating, I'm sure all is fine

TinkyPeet · 06/07/2013 23:41

Lie flat on your back on the floor and it's pubic bone to top of uterus. However you probably won't get exactly the right measurement yourself x

Cheers tinkypeet...now just got to hunt down the tapemeasure!

My friend is a dr and told me that 4cm either side is considered within the normal range so it really isn't even nearly an exact science. That's a margin of error of a month either side of where you should be! So one week is really not that big at all.

At my 28 week check I was 3 weeks ahead, I'm 32 weeks now and have my check tomorrow so quite excited to see what my measurements are as I am still enormous! Every day I seem to have this conversation with someone: them 'oh so not long to go now?', me 'well 8 weeks so kind of', their eyes dart down to my bump and they have a look of shock and horror on their face 'oh my god, really? You're huge, I thought you were going to say it was a few days away!' Grin
