I am very very early stages (BFP yesterday) and now I have my BFP my tiredness in explained (to me at least!) the problem is I have already nodded off at my desk once this morning and it is not even 10am. I feel dreadful!

Usually I would combat this feeling with a large coffee, but have given up caffeine.

Basically has anyone got any tips to combat this feeling of exhaustion, or to at least deal with it?!

TIA

Eat something! Sugar is ok for a quick fix but it'll wear off very fast - I tend to have something like a banana or a bowl of corn flakes and it takes the edge off a bit. Also try to have an hour's nap as soon as you get in from work then go bed at your normal time, it takes a few days to get used to but was the only way I could cope last pregnancy (worked in finance so one little mistake could have had huge consequences).

Thank rockchick! For your great advice and quick reply!

I empathise completely. I'm week 6 and feel like shite. Is there a particular reason why you've given up caffeine completely? and when did you start? caffeine withdrawal is horrible and its perfectly safe to have one or two cups of tea a day. As ling as you keep within 200mg caffeine its fine.

If I were you I'd have a brew.

How you feel better soon

I agree with Three that caffeine withdrawal can really affect you for a few days if you've only just given it up. If you want to give it up, it might be better to cut down slowly so it doesn't hit you so hard.

I went to bed at between 7 and 8 pm for most of the first trimester which helped a lot (and also helped with morning sickness). It means you have basically no life, but it's for a limited time only!

I haven't give up completely, just coffe, had a cuppa this morning, and saving my second one for just before I teach this afternoon - when I really need it!!

Thanks Raven!!
