Last few days ive been having the feeling of coming on my period. It doesnt amount to anything but does it mean labour could be soon?

Could be...Smile

Maybe, or maybe not. I've been getting similar since about 37 weeks. I'm now 39+5 and although I now get runs of more painful tightenings/contractions thy still disappear freer a few hours. And no sign of baby! So don't get overexcited yet!

I hope for you it is the start of something. I'm getting quite fed up of it!

Hi Chocomama1 - I'm 37 weeks today and have been feeling this the last couple of days too!

I put it down to baby trying to get engaged as it's not been able to get its head properly down thus far (to my knowledge at least!) - but sneakily hope that it could be a sign of things slowly gearing up.

Have you had any other symptoms like a show or anything?

Chocomama1 · 01/07/2013 17:35

No other symptoms just this coming on my period feeling.
Had to be induced last pregnancy so i have no idea what to look out for.

It could mean things are moving, or it could mean nothing at all, unfortunately Hmm

I'm also 37 weeks today and have had some pretty bad period type pain over the weekend but I'm not holding out any hope as this is DC4, the first three were all really late despite me having all manner of pains, twinges, tightenings etc for weeks and two of them had to be forcibly evicted.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you though as you might be one of the lucky ones Wink

Good luck!

Thankyou! Would love my body to go into labour by itself this time. I never had this with my daughter!

I didn't have it with my first either, however ds2 I did and it went on from around 34 wks he however was born without induction yay. I had him at 40+5 but labour started on due date. Now preg with ds3 currently 34+2 and been in pain for 4 weeks, was getting regular tightnings along with period pains and backache but nothings happend so just taking it as the body slowly starts things off earlier with subsequents, hope I don't go over :(
Good luck to you, fingers crossed something will happen for you on its own xx

This has happened to me the last couple of days, and I also have backache and just not feeling hungry. I'm only 32 weeks so hoping it means nothing, or just that my body is prepping a few weeks early. Let us know how you're doing x

Op, I'm also 37 weeks and this has been happening to me for the last week. It got so bad yesterday that my midwife called me in to be monitored. They are contractions but as they are not close enough together, I'm not in labour yet. But I have been warned that I could go into labour any time soon now. Have been advised to eat, drink and do things as normal. Baby will come when they want to. Hope you're feeling ok.

Chocomama1 · 02/07/2013 12:42

Are they cramps or just a period feeling? Good luck reebok x

More period pains. Quite painful irregular braxton hicks, emptying bowels alot and feel pressure in my pelvis.
Surely this might be the start?

Thanks Choco. They are like period pains...that feeling you get when you're about to come on. Baby is 4/5 engaged but apparently that can change. Yes the emptying of bowels is another sign apparently. Have you called your midwife? How often are the pains? Maybe give her a call for reassurance. Good luck to you too!
