So if the symptoms are the same in subsequent pregnancies, does it necessarily follow that...

I'm on my own this weekend, and I've just put ds to bed, so I've got plenty of time to think about really random stuff, lol! And I got to wondering, if in subsequent pregnancies you get exactly the same symptoms as you did first time round, does it make it more likely that you're going to have the same sex as your first? I feel knackered, sick and the insomnia's kicking in - exactly like ds; does that make it more likely I'm having another boy??

I know that everything was differnet when i was pg with ds3.

I felt different.
Bump was differnet.
Ate/craved differnetly.
Wasn't too ill atthe start....

I have 3 boys though

Evening, LTH! What's life like with 3 boys?? There hasn't been a girl born in dh's extended family for some ridiculous length of time (as they never tire of telling me) so I'm preparing myself for a housefull of chaps!

ditto with my dh's family 2happy, but I'm feeling quite different this time round. different quality of nausea (fascinating stuff I know) and just all round different feeling.

when I'm feeling chipper it makes me think this might be a girl (there have to be some x ones surely), but at other times it makes me a bit superstitious.

i do know lots of people who had two very different pregnancies and had the same sex baby, though.

Hi, Lummox! My nausea wasn't so bad today, but was blooming awful yesterday, bleurch!
Soupy - so it is possible, then!
I'm torn about whether or not to go for finding out the sex this time. I knew with ds I really didn't want to know, this time I'm just not sure.

do you know how many weeks you are? could you be at the end of the initial yukky bit?

we found out the sex for ds and will again i think. just couldn't resist when it came to it.

My pregnancies have been totally different and i have a 2 yo dd and 28 wks atm with a boy.

I definately felt more sick with my dd and was sick ...lots! this pg i have felt sick but not as bad and haven't actually been sick at all.

Not really, lummox. I never got a proper cycle since I'm still bfing ds, so don't really know how far on I am, but with ds felt sick from 6/7 weeks to 16 weeks, and I've only been feeling sick for 2 weeks now so I'm guessing I'm about 7/8 weeks. If I'm 16 I'll be very surprised

Didn't make any difference to me. All my pregnancies have been pretty much the same. First trimester - no sickness but dreadful headaches and bleeding. All went overdue.
3 boys, 6girls.

aah, I see. in a similar situation myself and am convincing myself that it means it is acceptable to have an early scan.

interesting that people feel more sick with girls. that has been the pattern with everyone i know who's had at least one of each. also a more generally run down feeling?

maybe more estrogen? or something else clever and scientific?

Had nausea this time around, not first time. Also, more tired in first trimester but could just be due to already having ds to run around after. I'm having a girl this time around so I would definately say different symptoms = different sex!

I had 2 very similar pregnancies - I was lucky, with very little nausea. 2 girls.

Nope! A friend of mine last year was convinced her 2nd pregnancy must be a girl because she felt much sicker and totally different to how she was when pg with ds1. She had another boy.

Another friend has 2 boys and is desperate for a girl. She is 20 weeks pregnant and has just had the scan to find out the sex, and it's another boy, despite her feeling very different and telling everyone "It's obviously a girl because this pregnancy is so different".

I think all the stuff about the shape of your bump, how you walk, how sick you feel, etc is just old wives' tales.

I had exactly same shape bumps, but definitely felt sicker (although never actually sick) with second pg, and have as you know ds and then dd. Re guessing the sex tho, we have a friend who works on a popular baby magazine and in their office the word is that if your bum gets bigger or seems to change shape it's a girl (true for me - massive arse second time round ) and if the hair on your legs grows faster it's a boy, and if it's the same or less then it's a girl (makes sense due to either increased oestrogen or testosterone levels) and again true for me....but I'm a sucker for silly things like old wives tales and fun guessing games

My first pregnancy was the worst. I was sick a lot and generally felt like cr@p. I had a boy.

My second pregnancy was relatively easy and I was only sick once. I had a boy.

My third pregnancy was almost identical to the second. I had a girl.
