I think I need a straw so I can just sip gaviscon all evening.

I'm 24+2 and have suddenly had a really bad bout of heartburn. It was really bad in early weeks, then eased off but tonight it's back with a vengeance.

Any ideas why? The gaviscon doesn't even seem to be helping tonight either. Sad it normally does.

Try chewing Rennies. They work for me where the liquid Gaviscon just makes me queasy. I'm 35 weeks and the bastard heartburn means I can only sleep upright!

I started getting really terrible.heartburn at 17 weeks. was making me feel sick constantly and gaviscon didn't touch it. gp prescribed me omprezole tablets. I take one a day and haven't had even the slightest hint of hb since, its.completely gone!! might be worth a try, its.saved my sanity (and many tears!!)

Fellow sufferer here though I call it acid reflux. Am currently 35 weeks and propped up on pillows (contrary to advice for my swollen legs!) expecting at most a 2 hour sleep before the vicious burn rises up. I've had gaviscon that also makes me gag but have managed to get through the evening on chewing gum and tic tacs and the afternoon on rennies. Dreading tomorrow night as have to fast for gestational diabetes test so can't take anything. Feels a bit late to ask for omeprazole. Dh takes it permanently and worships it!

Gp gave me ranitidine tablets. There great and you can still have gavisicon

MY vote is for omeprazole over rinitidine. 35 weeks not too late, u could be preg for another 7 weeks!
