Double buggy.... Help!

DD will be 23 months when DC2 is born. Ideally I'd like a double that holds a pushchair seat for DD1 and a car seat and carrycot for newborn. Ideally toddler facing the world & newbie facing me. Doesn't necessarily need to convert to a single as I currently have a single that can be used for DC2 when DD1 starts walking properly. I also have a Corsa (which has a surprisingly roomy boot for such a small car). I would also like to fit through doorways. Do I basically need to invent this or does anyone have a suggestion?

I candy peach, fits chair and car seat or chair and chair or chair and carry cot, single width and really light and manovorable, my dc's are 21months and newborn, older child is on top facing out, carseat of carry cot facing you

MrsRV · 29/06/2013 20:39

I had thought about this as I have an icandy strawberry at the moment and I absolutely LOVE it. How does it fold to go into the boot of a car? Do u have to take a million pieces off? Just been googling and have seen the baby jogger city select which looks the same as the peach... I think!

I candys are VERY. Heavy I had a pair and hated it ended up selling it and getting a phil and teds it was amazing as I put youngest dd in top and my then 21 month dd walk and when she was tired or it was very busy she could climb in to the Bottom seat with ease. It's light and so easy to push a def winner in my life couldn't of coped with put it

Beckmum4 · 29/06/2013 21:39

I love I candys as single pushchairs they are amazing but as doubles they terrible

NumberTwoDue · 29/06/2013 22:06

We're in the same situation and thinking of a Mountain Buggy Duet. My mate has one and they have carry cot and car seat combos as well as two seats. It gets through normal doors too (axle width is the same as my M&Ps Sola - no idea how they've done it). It's quite expensive though...

You can get the Stokke crusi converted to a double. Also I was told iCandy are about to bring out a new model of the Apple which is a double concert.

Rockchick1984 · 29/06/2013 23:40

How long do you want newbie facing you? If just able to see them in the carry cot then I candy peach blossom does what you are looking for, if you want them to be parent facing once in the pushchair seat then baby jogger city select. If you would prefer a smaller budget, Smyths dimples duo is amazing for the price :)

Have a look at the oyster max, its a lovely pram

kittykatsforever · 30/06/2013 07:37

I'm happy with my icandy, don't think it's that heavy but I only lift it to put it in the boot, it's very easy to push etc and I've tried my sisters m &p double and there's no comparison, it only has one set of adapters to make it a double which just click in easy, I had the single pram already though so it made sence for me, if you have to buy from new I have heard alot of people rave About the phil and ted pram

BlackholesAndRevelations · 30/06/2013 08:31

I agree re: single iCandy being amazing and double being rubbish! We had the apple and loved it, converted to pear and sold it straight away.

I'm looking too but don't want to spend a fortune as this is baby three and we can't afford to splash out like we did first time!

BlackholesAndRevelations · 30/06/2013 08:33

People who have phil and teds- I worry about the lower child being able to see nothing but its sibling's bum. Is this a problem or are they happy enough seeing out the sides?!

bunnymother · 30/06/2013 08:35

Have you looked at the Baby Jogger City Select?

tinkerbell666 · 30/06/2013 08:46

I have the baby jogger city select, best pram ever, i'm about to have baby number 5, i have a one year old and 2 year old so brought a buggy board, especially made by baby jogger, and the 2 year old loves it :)

MrsRV · 30/06/2013 08:47

Thanks for all of your replies... I've looked at the Phil & Teds and Peach & I just don't like the idea of 1 baby just staring at the back of the others head.

Looking at the Baby Jogger City Select & this seems to tick all the boxes at the mo and will fit in the car!! And it's not a million pounds like the bugaboo donkey which obviously I fell in love with straight away!

I got a mountain buggy duet and the carrycot to go in one side, and it is wide but pushes really well and like that baby can look at me and toddler outward

BigBongTheory · 30/06/2013 10:42

Yep, icandy pear far too heavy to push with the bigger one at the front and a pita to dismantle.

We also had the baby jogger city mini double which is a side by side. I loved it and it is the easiest thing in the world to collapse and fling in th boot. They were really happy sitting next to each other in this and I found it much easier to push than any of the one behind the other doubles.

I'm goingnto sell them both now so I can buy the bj city mini single because the double was so great.

kittykatsforever · 30/06/2013 12:30

I'd definatly stay clear of the side by siders like the bugaboo donkey, saw a women with one in selfridges and she got stuck every minute and kept having to ask people to move to get through, you can even have it as a single if you only have one as I think it has a shoping bag at the side instead, at the age gap you have like me you'd want the option of a double but my dd likes to walk alot too so the option of a single at times is better and you can always have a buggy board aswell

Franykins · 01/07/2013 09:50

We've just bought the Mountain buggy duet for our twins, not due until November but couldn't pass up on the price. We got it from kiddicare with all the discounts for £343! They didn't' have the carrycots in stock though so have to wait for them but they are £90 each atm. There was a price mix uyp though, they put the price for last years model on this years and had to honour it Smile still without the mix up it would have been about £395. Ok so I haven't used it with babies in yet but had great fun walking round the shop with it and putting it up and down!

Baby Jogger City Select - fabulous. If you go onto the prams forum there are some lovely ladies with wonderful advice on there too for this sort of thing.

www.babyjogger.co.uk/cityselect.php

you can fit child seat & carry cot, or child seat and car seat. I should add all the reviews say that once your older child is 3, and the second is about 6 months, it gets very heavy. At this point I would buy a mclaren double. Also - with the BJCS you can attach the skateboard thing at the back for the first child to stand on if you want. The maxi cosi will just click in, with the click in adaptors, and the wheels fold in one movement, and fit into small boots, there is lots of storage underneath, and the wheels are all terrain. We have tried it out with a friends baby in advance of ours and think it's great.

The other bonus is it does not take up masses of space - so easy for shopping in shops etc

MrsRV · 01/07/2013 20:21

Think I'm pretty much sold on the BJCS... Now need to go & have a play in the shop. Grin
