I'm 11 weeks and since pretty much day one I've had itchy legs they are driving me nuts and gradually getting worse. I can't help but scratch them raw and everything that touches them irritates them more. I've had my bloods done and they've come back fine. Has anyone else ever suffered with this and does anyone know how to ease it

I've had something very similar...also experienced a serious breakout of eczema despite having never suffered from it before. I've been prescribed steroid cream. Might be an idea to check with your G.P as to whether that might be an option?

I HAVE IT!! Omg, I thought it was just me!
I had a load of insect bites on my legs a couple of months ago (maybe longer) and they've completely gone now but my shins are still teeth-grittingly itchy. I'm the same as you aimie28 I have broken the skin with scratching and its taking all my self control not to scratch and scratch, its even woke me up. I thought it was something left from the bites but now I'm starting to wonder if its pregnancy related.

I had the same in both pregnancies. Drove me mad and my legs were raw. I was scratching them in the night and it kept me awake - I couldn't not scratch them as the itch was like little pins being poked in my legs, it really hurt!

Sorry, no advice. I slathered them in E45 which helped a little when they got dry. I didn't have it out of pregnancy so only 29 weeks to go!

It's called keratosis pilaris, I got it too. It'll pass, mine did in a couple of weeks, but there are creams available from the doctor in the meantime. It's not nice, my sympathies.

Do your legs also jerk about especially when resting? if so could be a symptom of restless legs syndrome, for which taking magnesium supplements will help.

PurplePoppySeed · 28/06/2013 08:56

I had it for the first 14-20ish weeks and so did my mum, its just one of the lesser known preg symptoms :( I also managed with E45, it finally went after 2 weeks in the sun-so I'm not sure if it was the vit D, timing or sun lotion. I still moisturise daily just in case, but it seems to be staying away!

i had it too for about a month. I just put loads of cream on after showering and before bed.

Moisturise every single time they itch. This will obviously be an awful lot at first but once they're not red raw will settle down slightly. I found that when I was pregnant with DD nighttime was the worst, especially with my legs rubbing on all the bedding fabric. Some long but not loose pj bottoms helped with that.

I used astral moisturiser and it worked wonders. It's really good for sensitive skin.
