Hi mn I'm 5 weeks pregnant with dc1 -clomid baby as I have pcos. I know I'm being very paranoid but I'm so scared of loosing the baby just need some reassurance from those with experience! I keep getting really bad pains like period pain but worse it only lasts a about 10 seconds ( like a wave of pain that peaks then disappears) it woke me up twice in the night and has happened about 3 times already today, is this normal?! Just need some advice!

Thanks :) x

Hey
Its absolutely fine to be worried, I think we all are in those first weeks.

I had similar cramps and twinges to you, and i'm now 15 weeks and all is fine. I think its perfectly normal to have little twinges as your little one is moving around, and growing, as is your uterus.

As long as you arent having any bleeding you should be fine, but if you are worried you could always call the doctor/ or your midwife if you have one yet.

I hope that helps x

Ozfrazror · 27/06/2013 12:17

Hi there and congratulations.

Although I've not had experience of a clomid baby, I have had 3ds. All have thankfully been fairly straight forward pregnancies and I wanted to come on here to reassure you that with each one I had period style cramps from about 5 weeks and probably on and off until about 8 or 9 weeks. It was perfectly normal and seems to be one of the earliest symptoms.

It is worrying though, especially with your first, but as the previous poster said, unless you have bleeding then hopefully all is going along nicely.

Thank you both so much you have no idea how grateful i am to hear both your thoughts! it really helps!!!!! I know I'm just over thinking things but so good to hear others have had the same :) again thank you both so much for the replies!

Stacey congrats too wishing you an uneventful happy healthy pregnancy :) xxxxx

Congrats, I am 35 weeks now with my clomid baby. Those early days and weeks are tough I know especially as you feel all kinds of unfamiliar twinges (in my case virtually every day). Slowly it gets better and once you start to feel baby you will slowly relax.
Try not to worry unless you have persistent pain and/or red bleeding.
Btw if you can afford it and can't get one at your hospital I would recommend an early private scan- I had mine at 8 and a half weeks and it was well worth the money. If you're tempted try and wait till 8 weeks as by then you should certainly see a hb if there is one and I read somewhere that 98% of healthy scans at 8 weeks lead to a healthy baby.

Smoolett · 27/06/2013 14:14

Hi although mines not a clomid baby, it took us a while to conceive. I'm getting the same thing as you and came on here to find out why and read your post. Very re-assured by reading the responses.

charliedrinks26 · 27/06/2013 14:31

Thanks crystelle and smoolet :)

I did look at private early scan and mentioned it to dh he said not worth it but I definately think it is! MIL has offered to pay for it too!!!! think I can wait 3 weeks if you say it's worth it at 8 weeks! It would give me something to focus on aswell! I'm at midwife app when I'm 8+4 and was going to see then if I could get in for an early scan but that's not 100% so def going to go for private one I thinkGrin

I've had no bleeding at all just these odd aches and pains! I'm also very tired!i work full time and it's killing me off!!! I only found out 1 wk ago and the day after I started feeling really light headed and sickie but that's sort of eased today, I know I'm massively over spotting and thinking every little twinge/ache/pain/feeling I just need to try relax!

Smoolet - how are you feeling apart from pains? Are you exactly 5 wks?

Thank you all again for your responses you be really helped ease mind :) xxxxxx

Hi, I'm only 4 at the moment, we found out on Tuesday. I had been really tired and cramps for a week which was unlike me so I tested and positive! Now that I know I feel pretty worried about something going wrong but over the moon at the same time :-) x

Christelle2207 · 27/06/2013 16:13

I tried with the midwife for the early scan and got nowhere. Book yourself in (privately) now esp if MiL's paying! Three weeks will fly by.
Tired is very very normal!

charliedrinks26 · 27/06/2013 19:00

Smootell-hope everything goes ok for you :) I know what you mean I keep thinking bout when the baby's here and looking at stuff and then smash right back down to earth and think no I can't think about that yet!!!

Crystelle yes I Deffo think I'm gunner go for early scan!!! :) xxxx

Charlie, I am in exactly the same boat as you. I am 6 weeks tomorrow with a Clomid baby. I keep getting the pains to but am not feeling too worried (not sure why). I have come over really tired the last few days and am really trying to stop my hectic lifestyle. I was of back in 2011 but had a mc at 12 weeks. We had an early scan at about 7-8 was and saw a strong heartbeat but it was not to be (unforeseen).

I wish you all the luck in the world! Smile

RubyrooUK · 27/06/2013 19:39

Charlie, my Clomid baby is sitting beside me right now, aged nearly three. He was my first ovulation in three years and is now an amazing little boy.

I have had a number of miscarriages but none of them when I was on Clomid and I've since had a second baby naturally with no assistance.

So I would say you have just as much chance of this working out as any other pregnancy. After I conceived DS1 on Clomid, I had a great pregnancy.

I was incredibly nervous through both successful pregnancies. But the Clomid will have helped you ovulate and kickstart the reproduction process - now you are hopefully going to have an uneventful pregnancy. Good luck!

imaginationzero · 27/06/2013 19:59

Rubyroo it is so nice to hear such a positive story! I don't feel too nervous but I think because I don't want get my hopes up after my mc 18 months ago.

Thanks again! Grin

charliedrinks26 · 28/06/2013 11:13

Aw thanks rubyroo :) lovely to hear positive stories :) it really makeshift feel less nervous!!! Grin

Imagination- hope you have an uneventful healthy pregnancy :) every night this week Ive got home from work had 1.5 hour nap and then Bed at 9 and slept right through til 7!!! Usually if I nap when I get home I'm awake til 2 in the morning! I'm sat writing this at work and yawning! I'm just exhausted!! Lol are you having an early scan this time? I'm toying with having a private one at 8 weeks! Xxxxx

Charlie, I was thinking about it but I don't think so tbh. I had one last time and it was healthy then if all ended in tears 2weeks later. I did ask the dr and he said any earlier than 12 weeks doesn't offer any medical support because you can't date it, and it could give false hope. Down to personal choice I guess. Sorry to put a downer on it, just being honest sorry if I sound mean :(

RubyrooUK · 28/06/2013 23:00

Good luck to you too Imagination.

I was in denial for the first three months of DS2's pregnancy as I was convinced I would miscarry. I didn't drink and I did take vitamins but I carried on with coffee, went out late dancing and so on. My previous miscarriage I had been so careful and looked after myself so well and it still went wrong....so I didn't want to invest too much in this one.

(Obviously I did stop being in denial at a later stage.)

I hope you will get a happy outcome this time. Smile

I had exactly the same thing at that stage. Cue me sitting on a toilet a five am crying because I was convinced I must be having a miscarriage. I'm now 15 weeks Smile

imaginationzero · 29/06/2013 06:46

Ruby and cc you police stories give me so much hope, thank you so much Grin

I am sort of in denial as I don't have ms, only feel sick occasionally. I do feel a bit more like this is a baby this pg. I am excited but trying not to think about it too much.

Thanks again for your positive stories and fingers crossed for 6 more weeks as straight forward as the last Grin

blondebaby111 · 29/06/2013 08:27

I'm in the same boat after 5 years of trying. The first few weeks are tough and worry about every twinge but as each week passes you do start to relax more. I'm now nearly 12 weeks, good luck to you xx

Londongirl84 · 29/06/2013 09:45

I am 6 and a half weeks with an ivf baby and live in daily fear something will go wrong so totally understand where you're coming from! I think it must be harder for people who have had to struggle to get to this point, whether by taking clomid or having ivf etc, to think of ourselves as pregnant women as we have had so much pain watching our periods come month after month previously. I am having a scan in 10 days time and it has given me something to focus on. Wishing you lots of luck :) x

Londongirl84 · 29/06/2013 09:46

P.S I have been having pains like that and have been told they're normal x

charliedrinks26 · 30/06/2013 10:43

Thanks so much to all your replies! It's really helped ease my mind :) just for an update only had those pains for that one day they appear to have gone now so I'm sure it was just stretching! :) I caved and did another test on Friday which came up straightaway positive the line was nearly black it was that dark! Trying to chill the eff out now and try and enjoy this time :) I'm sure ill still have moments!

Everyone who's replied who are pregnant now would be great to keep checking in see how your all getting on I have my 1 st midwife appointment on 22nd July so looking forward to getting a scan date booked :)

Hope everyone's well and thank you again for your responses :)

Congratulations. Yes yes to an early scan.

I loved seeing the little heartbeat. And the free hot chocolate and plush sofas at the private scanning place. Made me feel very special ;).

imaginationzero · 01/07/2013 21:58

I had an early scan at 6 weeks, showed a hub, then I MC 6 weeks later.

Just got the date for my first scan on 14 aug which is 13 weeks so I'm going to wait. V excited! Grin
