My midwife advised me to use canesten pessary to get rid of thrush. Put it in (or so I thought:) before bed but have woken up and most of it I have had to pull out as it was just there. I can feel it burning as I presume some might be left in there. Will it harm my baby and do I need to call midwife?? Or will it just dissolve if any left there? I thought I could feel it dissolving last night which is why I'm so confused its come out now :s :(

Sounds normal- that's why they say to do it at night!

Keep going for the entire course, otherwise it could just drag on.

I had thrush pretty much throughout my whole pregnancy and used lots of the caneston pessaries, never harmed my DS Smile

Last time I used one it started 'bubbling' when I put it in but I did the trick. Remember not to use the applicator!

I get recurrent thrush. If the pessary has come down, you may need another to be sure you've got rid of the infection. Call your mw and see what she recommends.

i had it for about 4 solid weeks - horrific.

had the oral tablet and pessaries, still have a jumbo pack inthe firdge in case it comes back.

i started taking pro biotic tablets and so far, it hasn't come back. i really recommend them. i was so bad i couldn't sit down properly at one stage.
