Private early pregnancy scan?

Has anyone had one of these? I am thinking of booking one for around 8 weeks just for some reassurance that everything is going well - 12 weeks seems a long time to wait!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes. It was worth every penny for the peace of mind it brought.

meditrina · 26/06/2013 20:23

Is it a vanity or a medical scan?

What would happen if it wasn't OK? Would you be able to transfer the info to NHS? Or are you going private throughout?

Emmabombemma · 26/06/2013 20:23

Yes I had one at 7+4 worth every penny.

maja00 · 26/06/2013 20:25

Not sure what the difference is meditrina?

I won't have booked in with the NHS by 8 weeks anyway, but I guess if it showed a miscarriage I'd see my GP?

yes i had them with all of my pregnancies. worth doing at around 7-8 weeks as i believe that's a reasonably good indicator time that all is going well.

VelmaDaceDinkley · 26/06/2013 20:49

I had one at 9 weeks. I was told I'd be referred to EPU at the local hospital if it showed anything was wrong, but luckily all was well.

Bezza2508 · 26/06/2013 20:58

I had one yesterday at 8+4. It was great and I'm really glad I did it!

Do it! We had one at 9 weeks to check after a previous mc. Ours was with Babybond and was worth every penny for peace of mind. Good luck x

maja00 · 26/06/2013 21:03

How much did yours cost? I have seen a couple of places locally ranging from £70 to £100.

I'm having one at 20+3 for a 3d scan.

MrsHuxtable · 26/06/2013 21:05

Had one at 7-8 weeks both times. Great for re-assurance. £90 Babybond

domesticslattern · 26/06/2013 21:06

Yes I had one. I was bleeding and NHS refused to scan. It was worth every penny.

MultipleMama · 26/06/2013 21:06

Oops, didn't see the early bit. My last twin PG was private and I'd totally recommend private early scans but I quite like NHS ones too!

Emmabombemma · 26/06/2013 21:37

Mine was £65 at scan assure in Bolton.

Jollyb · 26/06/2013 21:43

In answer to the question above yes you can transfer back into the NHS if any problems on the scan.

RosinaCopper · 26/06/2013 21:46

I had one at 7 weeks to as I was worried I was having another chemical pregnancy having ttc for 3 years and having had a chemical pregnancy 12 months earlier. I was worried because I just didn't feel pregnant, despite the lack of periods and positive tests.

The scan showed that there was a heartbeat. And then another one! The early scan gave me a bit more time to get my head around a multiple pregnancy, so definitely worth it to me, (although I went alone and the drive home is a bit of a blur!)

RosinaCopper · 26/06/2013 21:46

no idea where the random to came from!

cjbk1 · 26/06/2013 22:05

abdominal scan 8wks then again at 16wk £250 each (3rd baby prev probs) Cavell hospital Enfield last year 2D/3D loads of pics my referral to EPU never materialised and she told me I'd ovulated from my left ovary Wink

Shellywelly1973 · 26/06/2013 22:09

I had one at 7 weeks with my last pregnancy. It was worth every penny. Fantastic pictures & peace of mind.

jessw25 · 27/06/2013 07:47

Think ours was between £70-80. A bargain compared to a couple of local private hospitals who quoted £200!!
