I need calming down

I am 14+2 weeks and I just tripped over the Hoover wire and landed hard on my belly.

the midwife isn't answering her phone neither is DP

I've killed my jellybean haven't I? someone reassure me before I spiral out of control.

Your baby is probably absolutely fine. The foetus is really well protected in there.
You are doing the right thing calling your midwife. If you get any pain or bleeding go to A&E but chances are excellent that you have done no damage at all.

The best thing to do is breathe... just breathe and try and calm down.
Your uterus probably hasn't risen out of your pelvis that much by now.
Your jellybean is probably fine.
Do you have any cramping/bleeding?
Keep trying the midwife and your partner until you get some reassurance. Could you try the out of hours GP service? Or the emergency numbers on your pregnancy notes??

No you haven't. It is highly unlikely that you have done anything bad so please calm down.

If you want to speak to someone and can't get your midwife then try NHS direct or whatever it's called now. It may make you feel better.

I'm just imagining the poor little bean being all squished and can't stop crying. doesn't help that DP is away until around ,1am so I'm totally alone.

This happened to me with my first pregnancy. I fell on my stomach on a hard concrete floor. The baby was absolutely fine. Maybe best to go to A+E to double check, but it will be fine xxx

Don't say that! Your baby is very well cushioned and protected in your womb! Just breathe. There are other places you can phone. Try contacting your hospital antenatal ward from your notes? There should be a midwife on duty for you to speak to, just explain that you can't get hold of your midwife.

If you're getting any pains or bleeding, go straight to a&e. But i'm sure your baby is fine. Just take it easy.

Lie down and relax, maybe in a warm bath & keep trying the mw. If you want to get checked out then head to your local maternity unit and they should be able to put your mind at rest. Take care.

thankyou for the replies. I'll try having a bath, see if I can relax a bit. I'll keep an eye out for pains though.

My good friend fell quite badly down the stairs in her final trimester and her baby is now two months old! Hope that reassures!

If midwife isn't contactable, why don't you phone your maternity triage unit, number on back of your pregnancy notes? They'll tell you if you can stay put or need to go into hospital to get checked out

I got hit my a football in the belly when I was 19 weeks. I was hysterical. Went to A+E driven by my boss. I was terrified but there was no blood and only a bit of pain.

Anyway that little lady is laid on the floor next to me farting away in her sleep. Your little bean is probably bobbing about blissfully unaware of everything. If not they're wondering why mums in a bit of a panic.

I've calmed down a bit now. I guess they are pretty well protected in there aren't they? just about to have a long bath and a night watching films and scoffing chocolate. hoping nothing bad happens this evening

Your baby is very very well protected in there, they have a big bag of fluid and it takes a lot to hurt them. I fell out of bed and onto DH's weights(!!!!) at 15 weeks and all was fine. You can phone your hospital and ask for the maternity bleep holder - they usually don't start seeing women until they are further along but they will always point you in the right direction and at least it will put your mind at rest. x

My friend slipped down some very steep concrete steps and landed hard at the bottom right on her bump. I think she was about 25 weeks.

Her 3 year old is perfectly fine now! Unlike my poor friend who has suffered back problems ever since!

I fell over playing rounders when I was 5 months pg. Chipped a bone in my hip, but the baby was fine!

i got hit by a car around the same time as you are at, baby absolutely fine - i was covered in bruises and scrapes! am now almost 25 weeks.

as my doctor said, it's the most comfortable safe place in the world for them in there, nature designed us this way for a reason.

I passed out several times due to low blood pressure when carrying my baby, falling hard on concrete and downstairs, baby was fine even though i was covered in cuts and bruises, try not to worry x

at 14 weeks your baby is very low down and well protected. I fell at about your stage and was told by the doctor I would pretty much need to break my pelvis to hurt the baby.I did panic, he's 3 now and currently stealing my chocolate cake don't worry. get an appointment to stop you worrying, your hospital early pregnancy assessment or emergency room might see you if you can't reach your midwife.

Are you Rh negative? You may need an Anti D injection. I fell off a chair and had one, but baby was fine.

You know when people moan about having a fat tummy (which can be reduced by following this one old weird tip! )? Well this is the pay off. Women have fat deposits and other jiggery pokery going on down there specifically designed to protect the womb.
I'm sure you're both fine, and as you can tell by my knowledge of scientific terms I am something of an expert.

everything seems fine today and I have even felt the very first flutter from bean this morning looks like I was just over reacting as always. thanks for the advice though guys

Glad to hear all is ok. Even better you felt the first flutter! I bet you wouldn't of felt it so soon if you hadn't fallen and focused so hard on your belly. So something good came from it all!
