I am 6 weeks pregnant and have spotting/light bleeding. I went to a&e last night, they did a blood test and said that as my hcg levels are over 1000 they have booked me in for a scan on monday morning.I don't have any pain/cramping. I'm so scared that I'm going to miscarry our baby :( my mum told me that she had some bleeding in her first pregnancy but everything was ok. Has anyone here experienced this? Needing some reassurance..... :(

I had bleeding early on. To be honest I still get it now at 18 weeks and have been told the early bleeding could have been implantation bleeding or I could have one of those pregnancies were I still bleed monthly. But my DD is growing well and doesn't seem to have any complications so please try not to worry too much.
Good luck and hope all goes well xx

BabyStone · 22/06/2013 11:49

hey, I had bleeding at 7-8 weeks, now have a 3month old. (I was never told my hcg levels so can't comment on that bit) but early bleeding is very common. It could be caused by all different reasons really, implantation bleeding or maybe old blood from what would have been your period. (That is what they said my bleeding was). Keep an eye on it but try not to worry, I know easier said than done. Hope all goes well on Monday! Thanks

Sanch1 · 22/06/2013 11:49

I had quite a lot of bleeding at the beginning, had an early scan, sometimes its just one of those things. Over 35 weeks now! Stay positive and take it easy. x

Oh Fatpenguin I'm so sorry you're going through this worry, i know how you feel. The fact that its not heavy red bleeding accompanied with strong pain is a very good sign.

I had a mc last year and had severe pain & heavy bleeding which was a strong indication I was about to lose the baby. Your symptoms sound much more promisng because light spotting can be normal during pregnancy (some people heve it throughout the entire pregmancy) so fingers crossed your scan on Mon will confirm everything is ok.

It will be a tough wait till Mon but hang in there, I'm
sure the scan will confirm good news, fingers crossed. Sending you a hug and best wishes from here. Keep us posted x

Sorry, I should have also added the success story! That this time round I had a bit of light spotting early on, like many people do,but baby was ok and now I'm at 35 weeks so I'm sure it'll be the same for you. Good luck x

Lj8893 · 22/06/2013 12:21

I had several episodes of spotting between 6 and 10 weeks and quite a bit of cramping too.

Am now 22 weeks and all looking good :)

FatPenguin · 22/06/2013 12:24

Thank you so much for your replies everyone,it is really helping me cope. I just assumed when I saw the blood it was game over and that was it, never been so scared. We tried for this baby for 6 months and from day 1 I thought it might be too good to be true. Thank you again and a happy and healthy pregnancy to you all x x

Good luck with your scan tomorrow Fatpenguin :-) Let us know how you get on.

(And yes, am dying to meet him or her now! Not least cos I have placenta previa and have spent last 3 weeks in hospital on bed rest, with 2 to go before caesarean!)

Keep us posted tomorrow x

I bled on & off from week 8 to week 34.... Had loads of scans & monitoring but all absolutely fine in the end & it was completely unexplained! I'm 6 weeks now & the worry has returned & in my head I keep thinking I feel like I'm bleeding and going to the loo to check constantly! Driving myself nuts. Good luck tomoz xxx

pippin66 · 24/06/2013 10:09

I have had no bleeding but loads of cramping for nearly two weeks and I have no idea whether this is normal as its my first pregnancy. Im just over 6 weeks but dont want to start ringing the doctor over every little thing. Can anyone help?

Holly94 · 24/06/2013 10:28

Pippin6 I'm 8 weeks and that's been going on for me since the beginning of my pregnancy. So bad one night I ended up in A&E. turns out it was just the ligaments stretching. Constantly feels like you're gonna come on your period doesn't it!

pippin66 · 24/06/2013 10:38

Yes its horrible and my husbands really worried which doesnt help as I cant do anything to stop it!!! Really hoping it will calm down but as im so early im scared it might mean something bad.

LandsN · 24/06/2013 11:00

hi I bled from 6 weeks to 13 weeks with this pregnancy and after 3 mcs I automatically thought the worst but I am now 22 weeks with a baby boy who they are now scanning me to keep a eye on his size as the think he could be rather large so is fine in every way. I know it is hard but please try not to worry to much and I really hope your scan today goes well.

pippin66 I had cramping too and it is your ligaments mine has stopped now but scared the life out of me but if you are worried please contact your midwife or gp that's what they are there for hope you feel better soon xx

jessw25 · 24/06/2013 14:22

How did you get on FatPenguin ? x

southportmum · 24/06/2013 14:43

hi im newly pregnant some unease about how far along I am. Completely understand your worries. Had an eptopic followed by 3mc's. However after the miracle that is aspirin im now about 6+3 (going by dates) and all is well. Try not to worry too much, although I've had some spotting and as people have said some women just bleed during pregnancy doesn't mean anything is wrong just one of those things!!!

LST · 24/06/2013 17:54

How was the scan op? xx

FatPenguin · 24/06/2013 19:46

Hi sorry for late reply been asleep all afternoon. Scan went well! She did ultrasound but couldn't get a clear picture (hadn't drunk enough water) so she did an internal scan which wasn't painful but unpleasant. Dated me approx 5 and a half weeks, saw babies heartbeat!it was like a little pulsing blob. However they did see something else on the scan which doctor thought might be a twin (!)But can't be sure so have to go back in 2 weeks for another scan. They said spotting was 'just one of those things' and not to worry. Can't put into words how relieved I am!!
Pippin- I have had period type cramps on and off, feels like everything stretching and making room for baby.please see doctor to get yourself checked over for peace of mind
Jess- I hope the next 2 weeks go quickly for you!!

Oh that's great news! Am very pleased for you hun, hope you are celebrating this evening :-) Wow, just think you might have two growing in there! They sometimes can't see the heartbeat till later on so you must have a strong little one/s in there. Enjoy what will no doubt be a good nights sleep finally tonight x

LST · 24/06/2013 20:15

Eeeee fatpenguin! Twins! Wow. I bet you weren't expecting that.

Really pleased for you. Smile

FatPenguin · 24/06/2013 20:25

Haha yes it would be a shock if it turns out to be twins!!
Looking forward to going to bed tonight, didn't sleep last night after being stressed all weekend. Feels so much more real after seeing tiny heartbeat.
