I'm nearly 11 weeks and I normally colour my roots myself with a highlift tint blonde. I decided the minute I fell pregnant with our much tried for and longed for baby I would stop colouring my hair myself and after our first scan I would get hl done by foils instead.

However today I just mentiond how I can't wait to get my roots done soon to which he said 'surely u can wait til baby is here before u do it'. Now although my natural colour isn't dark I will look horrendous going another six months without touching my hair. I just can't make him see that foils will be fine as nothing is touching my scalp.

I'm a hairdresser myself and have done enough pregnant womens hair to know this is ok. He has now said for me to do what I want but if anything happens to the baby or is born with problems he will hold me responsible! I'm so upset at this, how can I make him see sense :( anyone had this bother?? Xx

i am going to go for it, nothing he says will stop me its just the ignorance of blaming me if (god forbid) anything goes wrong! i just wish he hadn't said anything :( i've been so sensible in every aspect and i know this is safe just need to convince him...don't know how but i will!!

Had a full head done today, sat next to another pregnant lady. DH didn't notice the difference!

Just told him about this thread, doesn't seem to see the problem after a quick google.

Do what's right for you.

He has now noticed received a bollocking my new hair cut Wink

I didn't colour my hair, but not because of worries over chemicals, I was more concerned about a patchy result or a reaction to something id been ok with before, that I wouldn't be able to correct because of the pregnancy.

I'm guessing as a hairdresser you have the expertise to correct an unexpected result and access to plenty of professional quality products.

So - no reason not to do if you feel you want to I'd say

I asked my midwife when I pg with ds 3 years ago now. Said it's very safe. I done it 2/3 times everything turned out o.k.

Such.an old wives tale.. My midwife, doctor, gyne.. Everyone.. Have said therea no problem with dying.hair whilst pregnant. Its a silly thing some people.say to make pregnancy just that little less bearable.for us ladies who are going through it all.. U get your hair done and.enjoy it. Why should we look like crap cause people make up silly myths? Just dont.eat it... Duh ;).x
