My first pregnancy I gained a total of 23 kgs. I do not know how people can only gain 10 kgs (as I have read is average weight gain!!).

Anyway, my build is tall and slim at 5'8 and a pre pregnancy weight of 57 kg size 8/10 uk.

This time around I wanted to gain max 17 kgs bc I thought 23 was a lot. My first 12 weeks I gained 7 kgs!!! But it seems to just stop until 21 weeks...all of a sudden in the last week I put 4 kgs! Making my weight gain a total of 11 kgs...which is fine, as long as Idont keep gaining 3 kgs a week!!! At the moment, I am eating whatever and whenver I want...not used to self control, as I never had to diet in my life....I do make sure I eat fruit and veggies, plus take vitamins and no sodas etc. I make sure I have the right nutrients for the baby, but I also eat a lot of sweets and pasta etc.

How many of you watch what you eat, meaning eat less then you want to? My appetite all of a sudden has tripled in the last week! I am thinking I will have to practice self control and only allow myself, breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. Not breakafst, snack, lunch, sweets, snack, dinner, sweets :)

Tbh I wish I had healthy appetite... My partner thinks I don't eat enough (the bump is heavy enough without food so I only manage small portions), and it worries me a bit.
The sweets on the other hand - I wish I could cut them out! But oh no, do want smth sweet like every day... madness(
I gained 8kg so far (23w) but surprisingly I still do fit in my pre-pregnancy jeans, tops, so I guess most of those kilos are not really 'the fat'?

I find not weighing myself helps Grin

I'm with tinkypeet.

I'm 23 weeks and doing what I can to make life as easy as I can. I tired and hungry, so I eat what I can when I can. Lots of fruit and veg and little crap really, but definitely breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, snack, dinner!

I am 30+2 and weighed myself for the first time since my 12 week scan today. I have gained 10kg since then. I eat what I want when I want but do try to limit naughty stuff and have loads of fruit and veg. Don't worry too much about gaining weight, you will lose it after.

I have put on loads this pregnancy compared to my last. Not sure what it is in kgs but I'm heading for 4 stone Shock. I know at least half a stone is water retention because i blew up in the first 4 months (legs, arms, hips) and its never come off. I would be so thirsty, drink lots and never pee just swell some more. I will also be surprised if baby is less than 10lbs considering I'm measuring 45 weeksShock (I'm 39+).

I lost 2 stone in the first week after having ds. It continued to drop off me fairly easily until the bacon sandwich cravings hit due to sleep deprivation. It was winter as well.

The difference is simple, I can't move (spd), I've had really bad sickness which has needed grazing to survive and I ate far too many sweets in the early days. I'm now eating because honestly I'm so bored and fed up.

I've found my appetite and cravings have settled a lot in the 3 rd trimester and I now love fruit, raw veg and meat which is great. Once baby is out in the next week all being well I can begin to gain back some control. I have plans of prepared veg nibbles in the fridge for one handed access instead of biscuits. Dips like home made houmous made with yogurt not oil and guacamole are good for single handed eating as are mugs of soup. I can't wait to be able to move again. Once I can walk I will be off. I have a sling which I'm hoping to feed in so I'm not strapped to the sofa day and night.

I dread to think how tight all my pre pregnancy clothes will be.Confused
