I'm 28 weeks pregnant and I'm really suffering! Is there anything I can eat that won't give me indigestion?

I have it on and off, but only 23 weeks so expecting it to get worse!

I find what I eat makes no difference - I just have to chomp on Rennies. I haven't made it as far as Gaviscon yet (but have a bottle in reserve!).
If its really bad (my sister in law was sick after nearly every meal due to the acid!) the your GP can prescribe something you can take before and after a meal to seal your stomach IYSWIM.

Good luck - I've got it to come I'm sure!

I've had it really badly since about 16 weeks. was feeling sick and being sick a lot from the acid. my gp prescribed some omprezole tablets. they have saved my sanity!! speak to your gp if its getting bad!!

It sounds silly but arm and hammer do a toothpaste - there is something in it, and if you swallow a tiny bit of it it really sorts the heartburn out. Worked better than Gaviscon for me! Anything - Don't want to freak you out but you shouldn't be taking Rennie when PG - it's gaviscon only I'm afraid!

I second omeprazole. Bloody brilliant stuff.

And its nonsense that you can't take rennies whilst pregnant.

Midwife told me no to rennies. Then again she did tell me no to mr Wippy and I'm pretty sure that's bollocks so maybe I should take her advice with a pinch of salt.

FruminousBandersnatch · 21/06/2013 15:17

Another one for omaprazole. Saved my life.

Fairy the Mr Whippy thing is because that soft ice cream has been found to have a lot of bacteria because of the machines not being cleaned properly. I think you'd be ok in places like McD's but avoid the vans.

AnythingNotEverything · 21/06/2013 15:24

But it says for "indigestion during pregnancy" on the back of the Rennies box!

I think you're is right about mr whippy though - something about how they can't clean the tubes and the ice cream isn't kept cold enough I think.
