GP's nurse made me laugh yesterday...

I am 21+3, and my bump is, well shall we say "significant", struggling to get shoes on unaided already, etc, and it is very definately a baby rather than too many pies.

Having just moved house I went to the new GP to register, had an appointment with a practice nurse. She checked my name, DOB, took a wee sample from me, did my blood pressure, then said "And are you currently on your period?"

I was gobsmacked! Looked down at the huge mound of my belly and said "Er, well, no, I'm 21 weeks pregnant. ..". She did a double take, stared at my belly for a minute and, looking genuinely shocked and slightly horrified, said "Oh sorry, I hadn't noticed!"

I am still laughing about it a whole day later :)

I take anti d's and have done for a long time. At around 35 weeks pregnant the locum gp I went to for a repeat prescription asked me if I had any intention of getting pregnant Grin

Cue me looking at her incredulously and then looking at my mahoosive bump.

She blushed.

Lots of women hardly show at 22 weeks, at least with clothes on. Others look huge much earlier.

I get this all the time. I'm 37+5!

I was in a meeting at 32 weeks - was absolutely MASSIVE at that stage - when scheduling the next meeting for four weeks time, I remarked that I wouldn't be there as would have finished by then, to which one of the meeting attendees surprised asked 'why is that then? have you got another job?' I just looked down, looked up and said errr.... no, I'll be on Mat leave Hmm

I think some people are just frightened in case you AREN'T pregnant that they err on the side of caution.

I was speaking to my solicitor a few weeks back (was about 30 weeks at the time and had a pretty definite bump) and she mentioned she was busy for the next 3 weeks. I replied that I was tied up from the start of August and pointed at my bump. She said she thought I was but the one time she had mentioned it to a woman, the woman hadn't been pregnant so now she keeps her mouth shut unless the person mentions it!!!
