On Tuesday this week about 15mins after I had been to the toilet I felt a gush of something coming out, only lasted 1-2seconds. It was watery and not creamy (discharge). I rang the midwife who advised to call Labour ward. Ended up in labour ward for 2 hours that evening, was put on monitor, and had internal examination. No sign of waters breaking but took swob to see if it was an infection. No other explanation offered. When I woke up next morning, there was brown discharge on my pad. Rang hospital again to double check whether this was to be expected or not because of examination the night before. But as there was a drop of the watery liquid still there, they said I needed to go back in. I was kept in most of day where they examined me again, checked urine, b/p etc and also had a scan. Again, didn't think waters had broken as scan showed a good amount of water still around baby and doctor could only mainly see discharge during examination. Was told I could go home but if leak increased or had another gush I had to go back. Also told results from swob should be back soon. Its now Thursday evening, not heard anything, still leaking occasionally (especially after going to toilet). It feels like i'm leaking a lot more than it looks like is actually there when I go to check. I have my next midwife appointment on Tuesday and I don't know whether to wait until then if im still leaking or to call hospital again tomorrow or Saturday if I am? Am I worrying over nothing? Please help!

How far along are you? Wear a pad to catch the gushing and ring the MW tomo and explain exactly what's happening. If they try and fob you off, ask them what do they think it is then?
Do you feel any tightenings at all around your tummy?

I'm 33 weeks yesterday. I'm wearing a pad but I think the pad is dry most of the time. This is 1st baby so I don't really know what im looking for - what is a lot of leaking and what's not?! No tightening, was aching a bit last night but I think that was just the aftermath of the examination.

If you are uncertain, you need to call again. Just remember that the people that you are calling are paid to provide you with the support that you need. At the moment, you need to know if everything is ok, or if you should be worried.

I am sorry that this happening to you. It is very worrying for you. Hopefully you will get the reassurance that you need soon.

I think any watery leaking is worrying and should be worrying ... don't be afraid to keep going back to the MW. I had a little leak in my first pregnancy and it foreshadowed waters breaking early - knew it was amniotic fluid but couldn't convince the MW it wasn't a discharge. At 33 weeks baby should be OK though, even if that happens, yes?
