good god people, she asked for an opinion on spelling, not for you to attack the name altogether. if you don't want to answer the question she asked then don't bother posting!

hth

nailpolish · 31/05/2006 14:12

tsk PT

its called a discussion

either that or you get a list of names

katzg · 31/05/2006 14:13

i like charlie as a shortening in fact went to uni with a charlotte who called herself charlie.

i'm not keen on shortened names as THE name ifswim

PinkTulips · 31/05/2006 14:14

theres no need to be horrid about her own name though, thats just nasty IMO.

katzg · 31/05/2006 14:14

oh and love Jayne spelt with a y thats my sisters middle name

nailpolish · 31/05/2006 14:15

i didnt mean to be horrid

CountessDracula · 31/05/2006 14:16

I have nothing against the Ys, just think it is too much having two ie Charley Jayne.

Charlie Jayne or Charley Jane look fine tho

BTW she DID ask for an opinion, look at the 4th post worrying about if it is chav.

dressedupnowheretogo · 31/05/2006 14:17

i know i asked for an opinion on the spelling being chav not the name sorry i didnt realise it would be such a can of worms thank you all for your contribution

KristinaM · 31/05/2006 14:18

dressedupnowheretogo · 31/05/2006 14:19

OP posts:
jangly · 31/05/2006 14:20

I think to spell it "Charlie" is cuter. I really like that. Mind you, I think Charlote Jayne is gorgeous but, I know, you didn't ask that! Grin

sugarfree · 31/05/2006 14:20

The real chav spelling would be Charlee,Charlea,Charleigh or even Charleeee.

jangly · 31/05/2006 14:20

Charlotte with 2 l's even!

SSSandy · 31/05/2006 14:21

How about 2 t's?Smile

nailpolish · 31/05/2006 14:21

i DO NOT agree that shortened names are bad for those in authority etc

my name is a shortened version of another name and i love it

dont like the proper non-shortened version, and neither did my parents

AllieBongo · 31/05/2006 14:22

there's a charlee at ds school.. always makes me think of slang term for cocaine..sorry Grin

dressedupnowheretogo · 31/05/2006 14:23

sugarfree thats what we were trying too avoid

OP posts:
jangly · 31/05/2006 14:23

Sugar!!!

jangly · 31/05/2006 14:24

that was to SSSandy

sugarfree · 31/05/2006 14:24

Yes,I know, thats why I put them in,implying that neither Charlie or Charley are chav.

SSSandy · 31/05/2006 14:25

dunno if I get this chav business but why isn't Charley chav?

nailpolish · 31/05/2006 14:26

neither charley or charlie is chav imo

but i prefer charlie
