when you feel the baby for the first time? I am 14 weeks so can't feel anything yet but I have no idea what to expect. Confused

Early on butterfly's later on full blown kicks.. Like being poked with a stick from inside!

Locketjuice · 20/06/2013 18:39

Or like bubbles popping

DehydratingManiac · 20/06/2013 18:42

Somebody on here once said it's like holding a tiny baby frog in your hand and feeling it jump, only inside you obviously. Barely there little flips and jitters. With dd it was a bit more like when you go to a venue with loud, throbby music and you can feel the beat in your feet through the floor. But, again, inside you. Other people say it's like pops and bubbles. Depends on where the baby is and where the placenta is.

Not long to go. I had an appointment at 15 weeks with ds and you could see him rippling in my stomach and the midwife was very amused by his booting her hand repeatedly.

Think it's different for everyone but for me, it felt like really faint bubbles in there, like lava lamp bubbles if you can imagine that. then it progressed to more butterfly like flutters for ages before mild kicks. Enjoy, it's amazing the first time you feel anything :-)

ooh the early on sounds quite nice.

My early kicks felt like nervy muscle twinges. Smile

AbiElizabeth · 20/06/2013 18:53

You know when you are tired and get a twitchy nerve by your eye, it felt like that for me, a twitch in the tum!

toffeem · 20/06/2013 20:12

like a slug sliming on the inside of your belly!!

AbiElizabeth · 20/06/2013 20:13

What's really odd is when the baby gets hiccups inside you Grin

AbiElizabeth · 20/06/2013 20:24

roofio87 · 20/06/2013 20:43

the first thing I felt felt like being kicked by a tiny person from the inside. sounds obvious but it really didn't feel like much else!!

Timeforabiscuit · 20/06/2013 20:51

Ha! I forgot all about the hiccups, they were lovely SmileI miss my little fidget.. She's all big and five now.

PinkApple86 · 20/06/2013 20:52

I agree that it felt for me too like a frog inside my belly at the early stages. Very delicate. Now it feels more like when a cat puts his paws on you but from the inside. I can see kicks too. im 27 weeks. Not long now and your little one will let u know they're in there. The first kick is a great moment Wink

ShinyBabyOfficialNosePicker · 20/06/2013 20:55

mine felt like a muscle twitch at first. I loved the hiccups!

AbiElizabeth · 20/06/2013 22:10

ooh I'm going to be all impatient till it happens now. I hate waiting for things Grin

I find it adorable that my little peanut can get hiccups Grin

This is my first child and at first I found it really tricky to differentiate feeling like I was about to have wind to my little one wiggling around. I spent alot of time excusing myself from company just incase Wink now it's leaping around for all to actually see so no more confusion.

Dogsmom · 20/06/2013 22:29

For me the first definite movement was at 16 weeks and it was two light taps, unmistakable.
The best way to describe it is you lightly tap your arm with one fingertip it felt exactly like that but from inside.

0pumpkin · 20/06/2013 22:35

I agree it felt like wind, but then nothing would come out, to put it bluntly. Also this is my first pregnancy and I didn't feel anything until around 23 weeks, I was expecting it to be a lot earlier!
