Can implantation hurt?

Am going to sound super thick but can you bleed for more than one day (not at all heavy, just a tiny bit when you wipe/not everytime) and have fairly bad pain? Also, is it too early to test? (had a BFN yesterday when it started).

Am officially worried (it would be unplanned) and would love some advice! Thanks Smile

I never had implantation bleeding, but I remember reading somewhere once that it can last between 24-72 hours.
I also had bad pains 2 nights after I got my first (very faint) positive which they attributed to implantation.
When's your period due? You can test from the first day of your missed period.

TheOrchardKeeper · 20/06/2013 12:41

I'm actually on the pill and not due to stop it for a week.

Thanks for the reply Smile

I actually ended up in A&E with my pains and the doctor told me that when you first get pregnant and you start releasing HCG, then these hormones cause your uterus to begin to stretch which can also cause moderate-severe pain. It's different for everyone.

TheOrchardKeeper · 20/06/2013 12:43

I was actually considering bypassing my GP this morning and going straight to the hosp as it was painful in such an unusual way (though definitely uterus related) Hmm

I want to be a man so bad right now Sad Grin

(I seem to be ok now and despite it really hurting it's almost gone as quickly as it came on...though there's still some traces of brown/old blood when I wipe)

Mine was exactly like that, we rang NHS Direct at 2 am and I was told to go to hospital because they like to make sure it's not an ectopic.

Have you missed any pills? When I was on it I used to get random spotting sometimes. Especially after sex.

MrsBucketxx · 20/06/2013 12:46

yup both of ,mine hurt, kinda like s sharp pain rather than period pain. so yes.

knittingirl · 20/06/2013 12:47

If it was implantation, then you would probably get a positive test 5-8 days from now, as the pregnancy hormones only start building once implantation occurs.

Hope everything turns out well!

TheOrchardKeeper · 20/06/2013 12:50

I did miss one pill by about 10 hours and started the pack 3 days late Blush (yes that was very stupid)

Wish I could talk to someone about this in rl but I don't want to say anything to DP until I know for sure what's going on.

It's proving quite hard to take my mind off it!

In both pregnancies (the second of which I got my bfp for yesterday!) I had what I assumed was implantation pains. it's like period pains but coupled with sort of stabbing pains as well. In fact I recognised the pain this time which was partly what prompted me to test. Inbreeding though.

Good luck Smile

spotscotch · 20/06/2013 15:37

Oh God no bleeding not inbreeding! [Shock]

TheOrchardKeeper · 20/06/2013 15:55

It has alternated between a general ache and a few sharper pains (still all central though and not much back ache).

It was just this morning that was weirdly painful but it's now gone back to an on/off dull ache. I don't get PMS or anything like that as I'm on the pill so I'm not sure what to put it down to.

I really want to talk to DP about it but don't want to scare the hell out of him over nothing.

So i'm on here instead! Smile

I'm supposed to be doing an essay this week but can barely concentrate.

Am such a bad liar too and pretty sure DP knows I'm hiding the real reason I'm worried.

Hopefully I'll know by the end of this week Confused

Mine did

TheOrchardKeeper · 20/06/2013 16:30

Thanks for the reply.

Was it like average AF cramps/less/worse? Mine haven't felt that painful (besides this morning when it really did sting for a few hours) and now it's pretty dull achey-ish but it just feels different to the normal cramps I get with AF.

I don't cramp until AF is actually here now though because of the pill so it's giving me a bit of a scare.

Wish I could tell dp tbh.

When I had implantation cramps it felt like I was about to get my period, apart from a few times where I got really sharp, weird pains (like cramps but different to AF cramps like you said) a few times. They were so bad I was woken up in the night. They went pretty much as quickly as they'd come on. I felt really achey the week I found out, that's what prompted me to take a test - kept getting cramps and no period, normally I cramp like mad and within 2 hours my period is here, but obviously not that month!

Why don't you talk to DP about it?

TheOrchardKeeper · 20/06/2013 16:37

Thanks. I do want to but there's no point scaring him/worrying him if I'm not. (We've only been together around a year and although it is a serious relationship & he's fantastic with DS, does want kids at some point etc I don't feel I can until I know).

I can't actually believe how much better these cramps are compared to this morning. That was downright weird Smile

(Had a bunch of tests & an ultrasound for suspected cysts earlier this year and have had a recent STD check so I know i'm all fine down there generally speaking).

In fact after looking at your profile I think I remember speaking to you on my first ever thread here a few weeks ago.. I posted about being 18 and pregnant and worried.

It could just be your pill doing it. They do funny things to our hormone balances, it's just their job :)

TheOrchardKeeper · 20/06/2013 16:52

I think I remember that, yeah Smile Hope you're doing ok!

I'm only 22 myself (was 19 when I had DS).

It could be but I guess I'm just worried as it's not happened before and Ive been on it since I was 17, besides when I was pregnant and a very very short sting on the implant.

OP posts:
TheOrchardKeeper · 20/06/2013 18:14

I'm actually pretty convinced this is a weird non-period period. Haven't stopped the pill but have started bleeding (still old blood and not very much at all but it's been 2 days on and off now).

Appreciate all the replies. Fingers crossed for the next couple of days!

OP posts:
TheOrchardKeeper · 20/06/2013 19:34

Maybe it's an early sort of period, even though I'm on the pill?

OP posts:
Holly94 · 20/06/2013 20:41

It could be. Menstruation isn't an exact science and our bodies can do all sorts of strange things. I used to have periods that were really heavy that lasted for around 7 days and then when I got a bit older, about 16-17 they started to tail off after around 4/5 days and were a lot lighter all of a sudden. I had no reason for it do that, it just did, IYSWIM?

Holly94 · 20/06/2013 20:43

The cramps and light bleeding could just be your pill messing around with your hormone balance as well. I had loads of different things happen on the pill; it varied from month to month. Sometimes I'd get bleeding randomly and random cramping as well.
