Distress kicking on holiday? Can one wine hurt baby?! Too much sun!?

Hi, I am away on holiday at the moment in Italy and the Italian waiter thought nothing of serving me a big glass of wine on the house without me asking. Being in holiday spirit I thought one glass won't hurt but it's now 4 in the morning and babies movement have gone crazy! Lots of hard kicks and twitches non stop. Also had a long day in the sun, took lots of dips in the pool though and felt I was being careful. Feeling terribly guilty on baby now but also don't want to be a paranoid fusspot and spoilt husband and I's last holiday together just us. Any advice welcome on holiday rules! I'm 31 weeks, thanks so much xx

You'll be fine. Baby will be fine.

One glass of wine at 31 weeks will be fine. Swimming will be fine. Sunshine will be fine.

Have a cool shower and try and relax. If anything, you stressing and releasing cortisol will be keeping the baby awake Wink. They have a habit of trying to kick you to ribbons from the inside for the last three months or so. Whether you have a glass of wine or not.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday. Midnight paranoia is a bitch. X

Thanks so much, that's sorted me out of my muddle! You're completely right, thinking about it the strength of kicks has stepped up in the last week anyway, they turn into fierce little things don't they! No-one tells you! Anyway thanks again, honestly amazed at my new found ability to worry. Have always been very laid back! Ha x

My little one went mad on holiday. Pretty much spent every day watching my bump jump around in amazement. Not been as dramatic since I got back.
I think I read somewhere that they can tell a bit in bright light (a bit like when you have eyes closed in bright sun vs darkness) so maybe just reacting to new surroundings - I really wouldn't worry though and try enjoy it!

All will be fine, enjoy your holiday Smile
And if you think you are worrying now....wait until your baby is here. Motherhood seems to be worry and guilt nonstop.
With lots of good bits Wink

If it helps I am 31 weeks now and have also noticed last couple of days baby been kicking and moving like mad a lot more often so it is probably just that too.

Ah we got married in Italy and I love it there, we were planning on going back this year but postponed mainly because I didn't want to not be able to eat and drink myself sillyGrin have a fab holiday

Hello

Babies don't kick when they are distressed, they stop moving(I'm a midwife).

Lots of activity is good. Shows baby happy. Don't forget as baby gets bigger movements change force.

One glass of wine will do no harm. The sun is fine. Italian women live in the heat and do have babies you know!:)

Maybe baby is having a party :) I dunno, one glass of wine and he/she is dancing on the tables in there!

Seriously though, one glass of wine at this stage is going to do no harm.

Enjoy your holiday you lucky thing x

Thanks everyone, I am back to chilled and rational thank goodness! Night fretting can get tough when you've been awake for hours! First time on any sort of Internet talk for me and I've found it really supportive so cheers all. Like the idea that baby is just joining in the holiday party! Will make the most of the rest of this trip now rolling big belly around Tuscany :) xx
