As the title says really, had my first scan today and now I've seen for myself there's something there it's starting to feel real all of a sudden! Right up until they started I was convinced they were going to tell me there was nothing there (as in there was never anything there to begin with, not that something had happened, despite 2 positive tests and blood tests confirming it). Got to tell my grandparets they're going to be great grannies which was lovely, my maternal grandmother was so excited!!

Scan dated me at 9weeks 6days so looks like I'm not as far along as I thought I was (by my maths I was about the 12 week mark) and due date is jan 16th though they did say that might change (sil had her due date changed 3 times!) and despite drinking like a fish on holiday a few weeks ago everything looks normal.

So happy!!!!!

I have my 6th scan in the morning xx

Purplefrogshoe · 19/06/2013 22:29

Congratulations :)

chillisbopper · 19/06/2013 22:51

Congratulations Smile it's so amazing isn't it?! It's been over a month since mine now but I remember clear as day Smile.

I had my dates changed too, I thought I was 12+4 and they put me at 11+5. I said I'd had very little appetite and so baby might just be small and they said not to worry at this point about dates etc as they change a lot.

I totally felt the exact same as you! I did 7 tests before the scan and still I was sure I'd get told I was wasting their time and was never pregnant ...it feels great having the evidence Grin

Franykins · 20/06/2013 11:04

Congratulations Smile

I had mine 4 weeks ago, its amazing isn't it Grin I had the same fears as you about being told there was never a pregnancy and I wasted their time, turns out there's two little blueberries in there and we're having twins sometime in November :) No that was a shock.

We got a cheeky scan with the consultant last week as well to hear their heartbeats and then I have booked a private one for next week to find out what they are and get a scan of them together as we haven't been given one pic of the two of them. Silly I know but how could I not hehe.

chillisbopper · 20/06/2013 13:53

:( aw I only got a hand held doppler for heartbeat not a scan, so jealous Grin. I don't know how I'm going to get from 20week scan to giving birth with none of that stuff in between!

Franykins · 20/06/2013 14:21

Just a perk of having twins I think. They couldn't' get either of the dopplers working so popped me in for a scan. No medical reason but just so I could hear the heartbeats - but of course was a massive bonus to see them both jumping about Smile Again a perk of twins is that you get scanned every 4 weeks from 28 weeks to make sure they are growing enough. Having said this a friend of mine got more scans with her singleton pg as baby was small, perfectly formed thank god she's just a little bean Smile

Congratulations MrsSmith, it sounds lovely. Reading this thread has made me feel a little better; I thought I was the only one who is looking forward to/dreading the scan because I need to see if there is actually something there - I keep picturing feeling stupid because they will find nothing and there has never been anything there to start with!

x

AbiElizabeth · 20/06/2013 15:08

congratulations Smile

I was exactly the same, the pornographer said it was natural to worry until you first see it.

it's such a magical experience, so weird yet so beautiful Grin

So funny reading your comment AbiElizabeth!

I have my dating scan tomorrow, keep getting exciting then anxious, then excited etc. I did have scan at 6 weeks and could see the heartbeat, so I know there is something there, just want everything to be ok x

Franykins, this is the one time where being diabetic is an advantage - only one baby but scans every 4 weeks from now on

While we're keeping it off facebook for another few weeks we've told all our close friends today, it's amazing how excited they are for us

AbiElizabeth, that is the best autocorrect ever!

Pressed send too soon, arrrrgh phone typing haha. Our insurance is £7 a month with Animalfriends. It's lifetime cover and he is insured for £1000 if he dies/goes missing. And I think it's £750 medical bills a year if memory serves

chillisbopper · 20/06/2013 23:33
