Bleeding - need hand holding

I'm 13weeks today and about an hour ago I started to have very light bleeding.
This is my third pregnancy (ds and dd both fine) and have never had bleeding before.
I've rang the hospital but they said to just see how it goes for now. I had a scan on Monday and all was fine and kicking.
I'm frightened

Did you have an internal scan on Monday? If so that could have caused the bleeding. Are you sure it's not just coming from the cervix?

lovelylentils · 19/06/2013 14:37

no just a scan.
Don't know how I would know if it was coming from my cervix.

It really could be nothing. Do you have any pain and is the bleeding heavy? I'm not sure when the EPU cutoff is but can you go there for a check up?

Holly94 · 19/06/2013 16:14

You could try EPU. I've had to go there several times for various reasons and on my first time I remember meeting a girl there who was there at 14 weeks cos of bleeding. Giving you a hand to hold Flowers
It's probably nothing. I heard somewhere that 50% of pregnant women experience bleeding of some sort in pregnancies. I know someone who had a heavy bleed at 18 weeks she's now 26 weeks and everything looks great xx

thanks,
light bleeding with period like cramps really.
Phone hosp midwives who said they wouldn't really do anything as scan just two days ago.

I had exactly this - 12 week scan on the Wednesday, started bleeding on the Friday. I've now got my 20 week scan tomorrow :)

The initial doctor I saw in A&E said that as we'd had a good scan - ie, baby was fine, we'd seen the heartbeat etc - the chances were it would all be okay. We had to wait 3 days for a scan (bank holiday weekend) and there was no more blood over the weekend, and I was told by the consultant I saw that occasionally there are bleeds for no reason they can see.

It's still terrifying to have to wait, and I really hope it all works out for you x

Bleeding eased off almost completely but I have back pain now. Is this a good or bad sign??

lentils, I suffer with back pain from time to time. At the beginning of my pregnancy I had horrific cramps that radiated all down my thighs and my back that landed me in A&E where they thought I was having an ectopic pregnancy. Turns out it was stretching pains and my body adjusting.
Aches and pains in pregnancy are very common. Your growing another tiny human being! Think about all the pressure its putting on your body as it grows.

lovelylentils · 21/06/2013 08:17

Well bleeding and pain back this morning after nothing yesterday.
TMI but it's quite brown blood - any ideas what this means. The back pain is not like normal stretching pains it's deeper iykwim.

Sorry no help as to colour of blood. I started bleeding heavily on the afternoon of my 12 week scan. It continued until I was 20 weeks but dd is now 7.

DowntonTrout · 21/06/2013 08:44

Please try not to worry too much. Brown blood is not fresh blood, which would be more worrying.

My DD bled all the way through her pregnancy, off and on, and it was a very nervous time. But she had her little boy yesterday, 3 weeks early, but fit and healthy.

ChozRa · 21/06/2013 09:01

I had a bit of bleeding at 10 weeks which turned out to be nothing and when I told my mum she said 'oh I bled all the way through with your brother' - he's 21 now! He was her third too and apparently she had nothing with me or sis, hopefully it's just one of those things and everything will turn out fine for you. Fingers crossed.

lovelylentils · 21/06/2013 09:15

thank you. It's just so scary!

Hope you are better today...if I were you I'd insist on being seen. I had a small bled at 30 Weeks the other week and they couldn't have done enough..scan, monitor, internal etc. turns out it was from my cervix but I was terrified. You need reassurance and they should make sure you get it x

Kelbells · 22/06/2013 09:05

Lentils, I hope all is well today! Just to reassure you, I'm languishing in bed with my 8m DS next to me... I bled constantly during my pregnancy (6 weeks - 30 weeks) from brown blood to bright red gushes! (After 2 previous mc's very scary!) but all was well and although no comfort while you're experiencing it - it's relatively common. It would be worth checking if you're rhesus negative though as if you are, you would need an anti d injection as a precaution after 12 weeks (not for this baby but to protect future pregnancies)
