What do contractions feel like? Do the. Feel like you really have to poo and period cramps all rolled into one?

They differ for everyone, and can change in intensity throughout labour.

For me, early contractions felt like someone had a giant hand and was squeezing my lower spine and bump. As labour progressed it got worse in my back and I ended up having an epidural.

Mine were all in my lower back as my DS was back to back. It felt kind of like a bad period pain at first. Xx

Mine were exactly like upset tummy cramps / trapped wind. DS was back to back although didn't know it at the time, however I should have guessed as I didn't have gaps in my contractions they were just a constant pain.

Been having them for 24hours feels like I need to go to the toilet its very irregular and lasts roughly 30seconds x

Someone described them to me as "9 months worth of period pains" and when expecting my son that was exactly what it was like for me, really strong period pains that got worse with each wave/contraction.

Sounds like everyone is different, you could be in the early stages of a longer labour. Have you spoke to your midwife? She might be able to check

Mine were just like bad period cramps building up for about 20-30 seconds and then quite strong period pain like cramp for about 30 seconds.
