I know this is only a silly minor concern, but does everyones belly button pop out and if so when? Im 36 weeks and I still have an inny, a shallow one but its still an inny

I'm 33 weeks and mine looks like it will pop out any day now. I'm under the impression that most do eventually. Plan to stick it down again with a a plaster! Apparently it should go back to normal after birth.

I'm 34 weeks. My innie is now an outie, I think it's different for every woman. I know some girl who's belly button never popped out and she was bigger than me!

Mine even pokes out more when the baby pokes himself out. It honestly freaks me out and I can't wear tight tops anymore because you can see it.

Gerty1002 · 18/06/2013 15:47

Mine has been an outie since about 24 weeks! People are always commenting on it, even when I stick it down with a plaster and wear several layers of clothes! I'm past caring now, it's too hot to be layering up just to shield my belly button from folk

I'm 37 weeks and it hasn't yet. kinda gutted :(

MrsBri · 18/06/2013 16:04

Mine only sticks out when baby shoves from the other side!

I just try not to look at it / touch it. :-)

moominmaiden · 18/06/2013 16:11

Mine's half an outie, which is just sad. You'd think it would make more of an effort. If I lie on my back it sinks in a slow and sickly sort of way so I try not to look when the midwife is examining me.

I have a mole inside my belly button which I never knew I had until the appearance of the half-outie. DH was not very interested by this announcement, but I found it mildly exciting.

I probably need to get out more...

gwenniebee · 18/06/2013 16:11

My dd is 11 months old and mine hasn't gone back in yet :( I miss my old belly button!!

Saku · 18/06/2013 16:55

mine popped out at 37 week .. but it is not still protruding fully it looks like shallow bowl OR looks like a crater on moon Grin

Sluggers · 18/06/2013 18:42

I have remembered I have a large mole on mine (previously not visible due to it being tucked away!) I'll have a double bump when/if it does!!

Preposteroushypothesis · 18/06/2013 19:46

When pregnant with DD my belly button stayed an inny for the whole pregnancy, I was so relieved as I was irrationally fearful of this pregnancy side effect! I'm now nearly 30 weeks pregnant with DC2 and although I still have an inny, I feel like its on the brink and sometimes when I'm feeling especially massive it aches and I have to put my hand over it when I cough as I'm so nervous it will just pop out!

mustardtomango · 18/06/2013 19:46

This is just about the only thing that I think might freak me put about my pregnant body - imagining if /when it happens it'll be like looking at any touching someone else's (and not in a sexy way haha)

beachesandbuckets · 18/06/2013 19:50

I had an outie to start with and its a mega outie now as having twins, when commented upon, I say that its one of the babies' noses sticking out :) my dc's love 'beeping' it.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 18/06/2013 20:00

I felt like it was stretched to bursting at times but mine didn't pop out at all. I'm glad, I hate belly buttons Confused

jessw25 · 18/06/2013 21:22

Jealous of you innies out there! Mine popped out around 28 ish weeks and now at 35+2, it's really out! And it's very sensitive sometimes too. Slightly worried now that gwenniebee said here hasn't gone back in!

soupmaker · 18/06/2013 21:43

Mine stayed in with DD. Now 34 weeks with DC2 and still in but have discovered a load of belly button moles as its stretched open. Eeeeeek.

pocopearl · 19/06/2013 09:18

Mine is still an innie but it does look very sad and when i cough it pops out

FoofFighter · 19/06/2013 10:27

OH I am so glad I am not the only person a bit squeamish about outies! Mine is very ver ydeep innie and has never popped out in pregnancy before, but with this one I think it's not far off it, am 32w I can see the bottom of it (and all the brown muck in there Blush) I HATE anyone putting their fingers in my belly button and touching the end of it, makes me feel physically sick - so I can only imagine how urgh it would be to have clothes rubbing against it :(

MrsBri · 19/06/2013 10:32

Mine looks very wrong today. No hole, but not protruding either. It's flat and closed off. And brown. WTF is that about?! Vomit!

pocopearl · 19/06/2013 10:39

I asked DH last night if he still fancied me and to be honest he said yes but the belly button is freaking him out. lol

Foof, I can't stand the very thought of someone touching my belly button. It makes me feel physically sick too. DD tried to poke it one day and I nearly hit the ceiling.

FoofFighter · 20/06/2013 10:50

Oh yes mine's brown too Hmm
