Hi all, just after some advice again please.
I am 17 weeks now and I felt my baby move for the first time (I mean proper kicks) on Saturday and then after that I felt movements every day until today. I haven't had any feelings at all today and I'm just wondering when I should start worrying about lack of movements??
I know its early and I may just not be feeling the movements but I just want to make sure and check if I should be monitoring the movements yet?
Thanks in advance xx

The guidelines are to start monitoring movements at 28 weeks, so you've a way to go yet before you need to worry. You will probably have noticed a pattern to their movements before that though so if you're worried about any changes do call the midwife.

Movements don't have to be kicks, it can be swoops and stretches and roly polys which you might not feel at 17 weeks because it still has a lot of room.

I started feeling movements about 18 weeks every day and then didn't feel anything for a couple days, but had my 20 week scan and baba was moving so much they couldn't do the measurements and I have to have another scan in 2 weeks! And I have started feeling movements again.

At 17 weeks your baby still has plenty of room to wriggle into and hide so it will be in positions you just can't feel.

Just to belatedly add that I was exactly the same as you and worried about it. First felt baby around 20 weeks but it wasn't regular. I'd feel movement during the night one night but then feel nothing got a few days....then sometimes it would be two days in a row then nothing for a day. It took a couple more months for definite pattern to develop but midwife said it was normal. I'm now 34+2, enjoy not being kept awake by it while you can lol! x

I had the same worries as you OP. I didn't feel any movement at all before 24 weeks and even after that I could go more than a day without feeling things.

I went to be checked several times but things were fine and it was most likely down to my anterior placenta.

DD was born a healthy 8lb 9oz and has been a little wriggler since we arrived 7 weeks ago so maybe it was a blessing I couldn't feel too much Smile
