It's really horrid, and there isn't an awful lot that can be done. I was very sick with two pregnancies, with the first I found if I rested I wasn't actually sick and I found that indigestion tablets did the trick, so I was signed off work for a month and was constantly eating rennies. With the second I couldn't stop being sick and kept going back to the doctors until they prescribed something that worked. If you get dehydrated it can get dangerous, so going to the doctor to check keytone levels if you can't keep down water is important.

I thankfully haven't had it but my friend still has at 34 weeks.

She should go and see her Gp about medication and hopefully that will help. There's a hg thread on here too which can offer v specific support.

Hope she feels better - it's an awful thing

I had severe MS - as in I could keep some fluids down (i believe that is the distinction between that and HV but I could be wrong). I still get a bad day of it once a week 31/32 weeks now. What helped me was - VERY cold drinks but with some sugar in like squash/ribena (not the sugar free ones, the sugar ones like high Juice I guess). Salt and vinegar crisps. And a lot of people with MS or HV swear by S&V stuff so there may be something in that. It helped get the foul taste from my mouth that no amount of mouth wash/brushing of tongue etc would get rid of. The docs can prescribe stuff if it is really bad. I could not tolerate any meat or anything fancy - I found I could keep down toast, sometimes with Marmite, or cereal, sometimes tiny cheese and tomato sandwiches. It is really really awful, my DH found me once just sobbing on the bathroom floor. Thanks for your DIL.
