Well it's been a week or so since I last opened a discussion and this one is just because I'm so nervous and excited! Did anyone else feel the need to keep checking they're pregnant? I've done 7 tests! I've also been sick in a tesco bin! ;/ what can I expect from midwife today? I'm a plus size mum2be

Hope appt goes well! Nothing to be nervous about, midwife will probs be nice and reassuring and give you loads info and answer you questions, I'm on dc3 and had my booking apt today, def makes it feel more real!

Expect LOTS of questions about you an you OHs family:history, I think my appointment lasted 1 hour. They will take blood/weight and work out your BMI. My BMI was high (30) and the MW just advised on healthy eating etc and I was referred to a consultant (not just for high bmi) so not sure if you will get a referral? Good luck and don't be scared to ask questions even if you think they are silly ones.

They'll take your blood pressure, urine sample, bloods. they'll ask a million questions about your health and situation, and your DHs health. They'll ask about both your family health history's so ask DH now if you don't know!

Good luck

Good luck - try to relax - :)

Good luck, I had mine a few weeks ago. It makes seem a little more real. The funny thing with me was I got called in on my own at first dp had to wait in the waiting room and she asked me 'was everything ok at home and any domestic abuse' to which I said we are fine then dp was allowed in. I suppose they have to make sure nowadays. So be prepared to be asked that sort of question too.

They will also give u a date for your first scan too, I'm counting down the weeks :)

Hope everything goes well! I can remember mine was really overwhelming and couldn't hardly remember a thing afterwards! Luckily my fella is a bright spark and remembered everything. All the leaflets are handy too Smile xx

I didn't have any blood taken, blood pressure tested, weighing- nothing like that. MW just gave me my green notes and went through the first few sections- asking questions about my health, lifestyle, family history etc. I had received my 12 week scan letter the same day in the post (GP had organised that for me). At 12 week scan they took blood, weighed me and calculated BMI- and completely overwhelmed me with information!! Good luck though- this apt is really nothing to worry about Smile

Ive never thought about dp coming to the booking in appointment...Is he meant to attend?

Actually he's only ever attended scans no ante natel appointments with any of the dc.

MisselthwaiteManor · 12/06/2013 18:44

Mine wasn't at the booking appt and hasn't been at some appointments, it's not practical when he works full time. I don't think he's ever been needed.

AhoyAhoy · 12/06/2013 19:02

Mine came to 16 wk appointment... wanted him to be there to hear the heartbeat for the first time.

Wow thank you ladies! It went well, midwife was very funny and definitely made me feel relaxed. She asked a million questions about both of us and estimated that I'm around 8-10 weeks which is very exciting!
She took my blood after finally finding a vein and spilt blood all over my new jumper which was quite funny to me. Another stain with a story! Grin Bmi over 30 so I've gotta hav a consultant too but I see it as extra care so quite happy bout tht! I can't wait to tell my family now and for my scan! GrinXxxxxxX
