I have a 3 year old son and am currently 19 + 2 weeks pregnant with our 3rd baby. I had my booking appointment early April but my next appointment with my midwife is not til mid August. Is this common practice nowadays to have 4 whole months between appointments? I just remember seeing my midwife so much more often with my son. I miscarried our second baby last year so I am massively anxious this time round so don't know if I'm just scared and questioning everything it just seems such a long wait esp when I want to be reassured this time around! I have my 20 week scan on Friday but have been feeling ill the past few days and I'm just getting stressed out about everything, thank you for any replies x

20 week scan IS your next appt so yes this is normal.

There is a huge long stretch between appointments initially and there's even fewer if it's not your first baby.
I think after the 20 week scan, the next appointment is for blood tests at 28 weeks. Perhaps ask your mw for a visit schedule to reassure you.

Are the weeks you should have appointments listed in your notes? Mine are in the first few pages - may give you some guidance

I think you get seen less often with second baby compared to first. If you have any worries between appointments you should have numbers you can phone?

My MW sees me booking app, 16 weeks, 24 weeks, 28 weeks, etc. Maybe it's different for second pregnancies though!

It is different for second pregnancies, you don't get the 24 week one. I had to phone my midwife for my MATb1 form and pick it up from the doctor because the scan was too early to get it, and my next appointment was too late.

Ah ok must be due to not being our first this time round,I was just wondering if they'd forgotten about me! Can chill a bit now and look forward to scan on Friday, thank u ladies

Definately less appointments in 2nd/3rd pregnancies, this time I saw my mw at booking, then I saw her at 14 weeks, and the next time I saw her was 28 weeks, I just text her after my 20wk scan for my matB1 as she told me to and collected it from the surgery, you will miss out weeks 25, 31 and 40 from your 'routine' appointments too. X
