Has anyone had a nuchal scan at 13+3 or 13+4?

Hi,

First post here, I was just wondering that really, has anyone had a nuchal for those dates and was it ok, as in could they do it?

Had a scan today and was dated 10+4, and when I told the dr my nuchal was for 3 weeks today at 13+4 she said she didn't think they would be able to do it.

My understanding is the cut off is at 13+6, so if anyone has had one during the 13th week would love to here from you.

Thanks

I had one at 13+5 on my twins and sonographer could measure both of them just fine. Good luck.

Thanks, that's reassuring. I don't understand why she was so negative, my dates are are accurate, have had 2 scans and they were only dated a day apart so I can't see how they would change.

She said it had to do with length not gestation but I thought all babies grew at the same rate until 14 weeks Confused

We had our scan twice because the baby was too active the first time (12+5) and we had the next one at 13+5 and all was fine and dandy.

It should be ok. The sonography would know if it was too far away. If you are worried just call and see if you can change your appt date to a bit sooner. I have had to rearrange appts due to inconvenient times and they've always been really helpful!

Thanks

it is to do with length and gestation. it can be done up to 84mm and 14+2 . baby should be dated by head measurement if your having another scan at that stage (13+ weeks) what sort of dr was it? a GP?

Shhhbabyno5 · 10/06/2013 21:17

Thanks newmum, yes it should be fine, and I would change it if I could but we are on holiday when I am 11 weeks until 13 weeks so its not really an option.

It's good to hear others have had theirs done without any problem though Smile

Worley, no not a GP, first was a private scan with an OB, and today was at EPU, not sure if she was a sonographer or an OB to be honest, think the latter.

oh... in our EPU the sister scanning is not qualified to do nuchals so she may not know the actual cut offs. all our epu sister does is early pregnancy at risk scans. she cannot scan any baby further than 16 weeks. this may be case for you?

Shhhbabyno5 · 10/06/2013 21:27

No definitely wasn't a sister, just asked DH and he said she was an OB, she knew what she was talking about like you said she said if baby bigger than 8.5 then they wouldn't be ale to do it, fair enough.

I would be surprised if baby would be bigger than that at 13+3 or 4 no?

Kelly1814 · 11/06/2013 17:45
