Talk to me about chickenpox

I'm 9 weeks. My DS has a playdate scheduled for Wednesday with a friend who now has chicken pox. In terms of the rhythm of our life, this wouldn't be a bad time for him to get it. He still has me all to himself, he's nearly three so not tiny and vulnerable, and he's not missing out on school or anything. I have had chicken pox twice.

Would I be a fool to take him to play with the friend, or is baby totally protected by me? I'm a bit nervous that since I've had it twice, my immunity might not be up to scratch, but both were as children, and I haven't had any more repeats.

My DS2 had chickenpox when I was 7/8 weeks pregnant with DS3, so I had no choice but to be exposed. However, for all sorts of reasons I wouldn't do it voluntarily. It can be really nasty, and not just for pregnant women/unborn babies.

no I wouldnt expose him or you to chicken pox on purpose especially as you have had it more than once already..

What are the risks of chickenpox during pregnancy?

Thanks. You're right, of course. Thinking about DC2's interests as well as DC1's is taking a bit of adjusting to.
